Has anyone else said anything really silly when coming around from an anaesthetic?

I had conscious sedation today whilst undergoing a three hour dental procedure. As the name implies, I remained conscious throughout but don't remember much of what went on.

My son picked me up late this afternoon and told my daughter this evening that I came out of the surgery and exclaimed, in a much louder voice than usual, "You know I really, really enjoyed that!" (four dental implants embedded in my gum, loads of stitches and a very bruised and sore jaw :-2).

I don't remember ever saying anything after anaesthesia, but during labor I bet I said a lot!

I have said many different things, many of them not so nice...........

I remember when I had my breast reduction, I came around and said very loudly "**** my tits hurt" then fell back to sleep

Then after that muppet surgeon took out the wrong parts and gave me drugs I'm allergic too I clearly remember saying "He's trying to kill me" at that point I didn't realise he had:-5

The funniest was when I had my last surgery for the hernia repair, I was just so pleased to wake up and be alive, I started telling everyone in recovery that I loved them, when Jenna had her tonsils out in October, 3 of the people remembered me :wah:



Theia I hope you are ok, I hate having any work done at the dentist, I bet your in some pain now, keep up the ibuprofen and paracetamol:)

Poor thing. Theres nothing worse than dental work. (Well I imagine going to the proctologist might put a cramp in your "Im bad Im bad")

Take your medicine and tough it out for a couple of days. Good Job !

Id wait on you hand and foot if I were there.

Im just glad Im not there because I hate waiting on people.

Thanks, Chons and Suz...yes, it's definitely the paracetamol and the ibuprofen now

But you know, Suz, I was feeling quite loving and positive too, until an hour or so ago. What is it about anaesthetics?

I bet you feel wrecked in the morning theia. But I hope it fades soon, I'm sure you put up with it for a good reason. Not nice. And no, I've not been put under since I was eight or so. I remember it's odd coming round though, being able to hear but not move or speak. I'd not fancy doing that again.

Thanks, Nomad and Spot. Although my mouth is quite painful, I'm still on quite a high but, yes, I know I'm going to come "way down tomorrow." But, hopefully, it'll pass sufficiently by the weekend for me to go out and scare a few Christmas shoppers!

When I was being woken up after having my wisdom teeth pulled, I kept asking the nurse to go out on a date with me that night, and kept telling her how beautiful she was.

She just laughed and told me that I was going to be in far too much pain to be dating anyone..... she was right.

I think so (in fact I hope so) but you know what was really funny. That night when I was all doped up on pain killers and my face was swollen, and I was sitting watching the wall, I got a phone call from a girl I liked and was trying to get a date with for months. She asked me out that night and I said yes, she told me where to meet her, I hung up and phone and completey forgot. She never spoke to me again.

I came out and looked at my pale hands and said, "I need a sun tan.":wah:

Its true, you do get giddy when you are coming back from anasthetics, (well some of them), codeine makes you a bit loved up as well (but I am not advocating taking it unless you need it, it can be very dangerous and addictive). I think I may have smiled at the odd female nurse or three when I was in that kinda state, but I am sure they are used to it.

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled last fall, the dental surgeon told my husband that I laughed and giggled throughout the whole procedure.

I had a terrible experience, no information about what was going to happen and when I woke up in a different room... white... I panicked. The only thing I could think was that to move me someone had probably been touching me without my consent.

I think the first thing I said was "where am I?" and might have used an expletive.

Seriously, I should've charged.

I had a big operation, and as they wheeled me back to bed, I pulled the tube from down my throat and was shouting, "get this sh*t out of me"! Apparently I beat up on the bloke that was holding me down! Can't remember any of it.

I'd say that was pretty lucky for me too...

When I had my lymph nodes checked out in 1991, I had surgery late in the day due to some emergency, and the hospital was a Catholic hospital. When I woke up, there were church bells chiming (this was at 8:00 pm). I remember asking the nurse when she came to check me out if I was dead and in heaven now.
