The bigger the engine, the harder the pull start many times.

If you will mulch it all back in or leaves, you want like 5 or 6 hp.

I like the pull start at top of the handle, rather than on the engine.

Wider wheels compact soil less than narrow wheels.

I have a mccullochs petrol strimmer for the edging on my lady garden but use a hover for the larger mound that tends to grow a tad wild....:sneaky:

The snowbanks are up to my thighs along the sidewalks.

I never know what they're talking about with inches 'cause it always seems like a lot more.

anyone else think this belongs in the Innuendo thread?

for once my post was innuendo free, it was your dirty mind Koan :wah:

Been ages since we had as much snow fall as that here, its a lot of fun if you can stay and play in it but not if you have to try and get into work:(

I have a very small garden, it's basically just big enough to park a car on, but I have it down to grass instead & think of it as a small outside room.

The mower I use is a small manual type (ie no engine). About the smallest sort of mower you can get. Using it gives me a bit of physical exercise & no hassle of electric wires to trip over, & no noise of a loud engine. Storage is easy too, no wires to keep coiling up afterwards. I don't even have a grassbox, I just use one of those splayed rake things to scrape the cuttings into a pile when I finish. The whole mowing/clearing job takes about 1/2 hour.

I have actually sodded the interior. I use my beard trimmer for touch ups.

If you have just a small area to mow, why not get a non-powered one?

The gasoline engines on lawn mowers are ancient technology, and they pollute the air like crazy. I read that mowing your lawn with a gasoline engine mower emits more pollution than driving a modern car for an hour

.

I had a neighbour, two houses down, that had such a poorly tuned machine that my house reeked of exhaust fumes everytime he cut the grass.
