It's so heartwarming a tale... if you think how many RSPB sales outlet managers have desperately tried to entice photogenic coloured birds into their shop for the publicity value over the years and finally one's come up trumps, it fair makes you believe in the Christmas Fairy all over again.

What got me were the other headlines... "Man in cyanide vat fall critical"? What?? and the detail concludes with "Cyanide can cause fatal cardiac arrests if ingested"!

I didn't even open "Four arrested in raid on brothel", the shock might be too great.

that was a bit cynical spot - so you think it didn't go in there all by itself?

They've put out several thousand times its own weight in birdseed as a lure, and I bet they laid trails of it from outside the shop to teach it where to go! I'm surprised they don't have every migrating starling in the country stopping off for a top-up by now.

ok, so if bird flu breaks out again, then the story will be even more heartwarming - it;ll have to be killed because its a wild bird in close proximity to humans.All the customers from the shop will have to be tested.
