Back when i was a teenager i lived with my granny on a farm...she went out every saturday and killed a chicken for sunday dinner..one saturday she sent me out in the yard to wring the chicken's neck..i caught the bird..and hesitantly gave her a good sling around...broke her neck..didnt kill her..that chicken ran around for a week cockheaded..my granny wouldnt finish her for me and i didnt have the heart to do it..that was the end of my chicken killing..and i didnt eat chicken for two years after that....:-3

I think venison is utterly disgusting. I've had it every possible way to prepare it, even in jerky, and it's awful

ah but guppy, that might not work if they do what i do which is buy a lot of meat in one go from the store and take it out and put it into the freezer in individual portions.

Then when i do use it, there is no wrapping to be found because it was thrown away the day i bought the meat.

My family eats venison year around. We like the steaks burgers and especially the hearts. We cook the hearts like roast with potatoes and carrotts, The heart quite possibly be the best piece of meat I have ever eaten..

The grocery stores around here are catering to the Hispanic population more and more. Used to be just tripe and such you saw, now you see hog's head, toungue and such. I like tamales, but I won't eat them if I saw them being prepared. They use a hog's head to make them.

Funny you should post this Guppy.

We were talking in work the other day about what bird/meat we were going to have for christmas day dinner. One lady is a strict veggie and asked us if we had to kill the animal in order to eat it would we...

I answered defiantely NO, their is no way I could kill the animal myself infact if I think too much about were its come from I cant eat it at all.

Wonder how many of us could kill our christmas dinner?

i force myself to eat liver - yes prepared from raw - quickly cover it in flour then you can't see it anymore - because it is a fantastic source of iron which women need in their diet.

Oh what a fun thread!!

First:I want to say that the ex chopped off a chickens head one time in the back yard (yes, we had chickens in a residential neighborhood--the eggs were great!) and he let the two little boys watch, they thought it was GREAT....as for me and the oldest son, yeah We were NO-where to be found....well, no-where is also known as the bathroom with NO windows and far from the chicken killing area!!

Second: the ex used to try to feed me the fresh chickens, he would kill them while I went out and tell the boys not to tell me...thankfully my youngest is MY child....and told me the minute I walked in the door!!

Third: For a short period of time, we owned a pig and a cow, and their names were "Bacon and T-Bone"....no joke. We ended up selling them before my ex made them our meals....which is fine by me!

You and me both, I had a friend that would eat liver when she was pregnant with her daughter....she was told she would never have children, so when she got pregnant she ate EVERYTHING by the book, if she liked it or not! She ate it twice a week and hated it the whole 9 months, but did it for her baby....wow, I can't say that I was that dedicated to my unborn children. I DID take the vitamins though!:o

i shall tell you how i eat it, almost painlessly -

i coat it in flour, dried herbs, tomato puree and beef stock. Then I fry it so that it very very brown - at this stage if you taste it, mostly you taste the caramelised covering, so it isn't terrible.

Then put it in a crockpot with meat stock and various vegetables and a little red wine for a whole day - by then it has disintegrated and you only taste a rich gravy with vegetables in it so you really don't realise what you are eating (except that obviously i know because i put it in there),

jimbo;739628 wrote: there is an ostrich farm down the road

and the way to kill an ostrich is this

you put a sock over your hand and you put your arm up high over your head ,then you use your thumb and fingers into the shape of a beak and you sway your arm to and fro ,the ostrich then thinks your hand and arm is the head and neck of an ostrich

and the arm moving to and fro is alike to the mating dance of an ostrich ,you can even make ostrich noises to help if you can ,then you do this for a week till the ostrich falls in love with your arm and sock make believe ostrich then the next day you put a saw blade in front of the ostrich ,then carefully do the dance but flick off the sock and open your hand quickly so there is no beak ,the ostrich the cranes his neck over the saw blade and looks to and through for its mate and cuts his bloody head off
