What an extraordinary notion. That's what gross means. Graphic means pictorial.

Graphic has also come to mean "in your face." Nowadays. I just wanted people to know it was safe to look.

I think the word would be "explicit" then. A graphic description is a verbal one so vivid that it paints a picture, maybe that's the confusion.
