My Settings / User Options / Visible Post Elements:You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts.

Show Signatures

Show Avatars

Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)Turning off sigs and images will remove all the large graphics from your screen.

If you're using Firefox you can also mass-manipulate graphics downloads with the AdBlock Plus add-on.

Found it, thanks. I'm surprised that there isn't a size limit for graphics..

There's size limits for graphic uploads to the FG server.

The IMG tags allow you to embed any size. My preference would be to force-shrink the display size within IMG tags if they exceed a given limit but that's not part of the vBulletin code what's on the FG server. It exists as a code patch but we're not using it at the moment.
