Silent Night

Final chord vibrates through congregation,
Carol hovers above candles lighted
With peace, haloing inner reflection
Of Christ Child’s birth, with thankfulness granted.
Small hand held close, another Yule bestows
Her love with him, snow’s touch in her tresses
Glimmer from flame hidden in heart he knows,
Time’s specter slowed from ailment’s hiatus.
Perfumed spirals resonate between smiles
They share, before final amen will close
This chapter of their life, entwined with trials
Strengthening their bonds against final foes.
Their silent night sings of hope’s victory,
In worship of Blest Baby’s memory.

It is a sonnet, for my friend who will be there next week at Christmas Eve Service. It will probably be her last here on Earth.
