Hi from Ian in Ireland

I am a regular subscriber to forum sites! I enjoy the banter very much.

This week I have more time on my hands, partly due to the Christmas holiday but more because I have been laid off at work. I was working as a freelance writer for a local newspaper in Inishowen, County Donegal. The company that took the paper over have decided that cutbacks are necessary so instead of an invite to the Christmas party they have let me go!!

I did a gardening article called Up the Garden Path, an environmental article called Clean and Green and a motoring article where I was lucky enough to go around the peninsula and interview people about their cars.

I was doing the gardening article for about seven years.

I am looking forward to new challenges. In the mean time I will carry on adding to my blog site and Forum page to keep the creative juices going... as well as joining in the chats on this site (children behaving themselves permitting!!!)

Thanks

Ian

What a rotten week for them to consolidate, you must be feeling very unseasonal. There's a lot of magazines take freelance contributions but actually getting a regular column does make a difference.

I think you will find that here at FG its not the constant fighting or the rampant hostility or even the death threats you're bound to encounter that makes this such a wonderful forum.

Rather its the fond memories we create in the process.

On a footnote the only thing we cultivate here is slight brain decay and mental retardation.

If you can get behind that then I think were all set here.

Welcome.

Ian welcome to Forum Garden, there are so many different forums on here that you are bound to find some that will interest you !

I wish you the best of luck in the New Year. What a thoughtless action , you would have thought they could have waited till after the festive season !

Anyway if you want banter, it's all in the Garden. Enjoy discovering.

Welcome Ian, so you are from the land of the redundant Celtic Tiger, so am I. Notified of my redundancy a couple of months ago.

With all of the lay offs happening here the forum will soon be over run with unemployed Irish.
