On the news it is saying that many churches this year have cancelled their midnight christmas eve mass because of fears that the ministers will be attacked.
Many people go to christmas eve mass who would not go to church at any other time of the year.
This is just such a sad summing up of the society we live in.

They just showed the mass at jerusalem, with the choir singing and thousands of people all worshipping together.
Just imagine how it would feel at midnight ushering in Christmas Day at the place where it all began.
I wish I could be there to feel that emotion, it must be really special.

well if this isn't discrimination in the grandest of scales. Taking away our rights to celebrate CHRISTMAS for what it is to many of us. It's bloody irksome if you ask me.

on the other hand, minks, can you blame them? Some of these liitle churches in the middle of nowhere have a small congregation, but they have a collection of money, and is it worthy it for the minister to be attacked? And they cant have a policeman standing by at every church.
It used to be that if ever you were in trouble, any time, day or night, you could find refuge in a church but not now, they all locked because of the thefts, so you couldnt now go there and pray by yourself in the middle of the night if you heard bad for example, although you used to be able to do that.

These ministers who close their churches should not give that power to criminals.
We all know that no place is 100% safe from crime.

yes but alongfor the ride, we all give similar power to the criminals all day everyday.
Do you leave your house without locking the doors and windows?
Do you leave your car unlocked when you walk away from it?

I see your point. But my home and my car are my private property. A minister is over a church which ministers to his/ her congregation and their right to worship in that church.

This is true, it is your private property but the minister being a person in his own right must also have a right to protect himself, where the rights of his congregation then come in i don't actually know.
In any case the criminals are to blame. The few, once agian, make everything horrible for the many law abiding people.
