I think that telemarketing should be a chargable offense or they should pay for the phone lines as their advertising expense. Anyone who pays for a phone line to their house should not be subjected to telemarketing on their private service for which they pay a good penny. Make home phones free or stop the abuse by sales people.

I agree! My parents won't even answer the phone anymore, they wait for the answering machine to hear my voice....or whomever else is calling...they would agree with you 100% too.

The United States will let any company get away with almost anything if they are providing an income for people. Jobs trumps all other individual rights. It goes to "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" in the Declaration of Independence.
Fine but they can be charged for access to the lines and pay for our phone lines. Business expense.

And you have to sign up again for the Do Not Call List, or the telemarketers will be able to call you.
Now charities are allowed to call you, not being blocked on the Do Not Call List, so we still receive numerous calls daily. They even call my cell phone every so often!

Registering your phone with this site will help eliminate many, but not all, unsolicited phone calls.

I shall be terminating my home phone within the next few months. Happy to use my mobile phone with call display and only answer those with numbers I recognize.

I hate getting telemarketing calls too. i never answer my phone untill i look at the caller ID first. If i don't know the number,i let the answering machine get it. I got tired of answering the phone and no one being on the line.

Will door-to-door salesmen have to pay for the front door as well?

I am on the "do not call" list and am happy to say that I don't receive calls anymore. You can also block certain phone numbers on my phone service.,,very nice indeed.
