My randomiser has just presented me with a Rap / Hip Hop track from the late 60s. What's odd about that is that I listened to it and enjoyed it.

Even stranger, where modern Rap often uses ******* every other word, it used nigg*r 'most every word.

It reminds me of Newark, N.J. during the riots in the sixties. When Black men and women fought for their rights. And some killed each other.

And Marvin Gay was shot by his father not long after.

I've been trying to define Wu Tang Clan to a friend.

Old rap was much more about something important and something that mattered and therefore a lot more enjoyable.

Unlike the cars, money , drugs and the usual **** rappers rap about now.
