I wanted a receipt for the payment of my 2007 school taxes, so I called the tax office. They said they could send it in the post. I asked if they could fax it to me. They said yes, but it would cost $5 and I would have to call into the office to pay the $5

Seriously
So I asked if they could send it in the post, they said they would for free. A week later I still did not get it, so I went to their office to get a copy. The women said its 50c for a copy

I really had to stop myself being sarcastic.
To copy and post - free
To fax - $5 that has to be paid in person :wah:
To collect - 50c
:wah: I laughed all the way back to my car - got some odd looks.

dont you know your in a recession Pheasy, they need all the money they can get lol:wah::wah:
p.s. good news about your interest rate going down too
The Federal Reserve took dramatic action this morning, cutting interest rates .75 percentage points. The unplanned cut came after two days of massive losses in stock markets around the world but was not enough to prevent Wall Street from opening today to a dismal start.
But by mid-day, stocks appeared to be rebounding with markets in Europe actually up and U.S. markets recovering from the horrible opening.
Story
When Will You Get Your Rebate Check? This morning's emergency action by the Fed was the biggest single downward move in the key Fed Funds interest rate -- what banks pay for overnight loans -- since a 1-percentage point cut on Aug. 16, 1982.
The key Fed Funds interest rate now stands at 3.5 percent.
Lets hope it has a knock on effect to us:-6

Here in Pennsylvania, we vote for local judges (like that's real bright), so when I went in to vote I was told I couldn't because I was registered independent, and was even scolded by a person for not belonging to one of the two major parties.

Blimey, that really is strange!

Same in New England, I'm an independent, & can't vote in the local elections either! :wah: Only can vote in the Presidential elections! (Which I do)

I dont understand the way it works in the Land of the Free.
How do you register Independant ?
In the UK you can belong to a political party, but that doesn't bar you from voting in any sort of election.....in your locality, or national
