A couple of months ago, I received an e mail warning of a virus that basically eating everyones computer up. The email came to me from very level headed friends, warning me. I in turn posted the information here to warn you. The e mail was a hoax. I felt very embarassed, and foolish, despite the fact that my intentions were good. From your replys..... I was introduced to SNOPES.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my familiarity with computers, and the internet, at a 3. Four years ago, before meeting everyone here, my level was a minus 100. So, Im doing pretty good. Aside from technical proficiency,
There are these sort of rules of conduct that I have also been taught from participating here.
#1 Do not post information without first verifying its accuracy.
#2. I am responsible for everything I say here.
#3. Do not take replys I receive personally ( 4 years ago, responses could make me cry)
#4 Be cautious and careful.
And there are many other skills to add to the list.
MY POINT IS
If you know of a great tool like SNOPES.... Take a moment to share it with everyone, for their learning. Im thinking that just because it was revealed to me... it wasnt discovered by everyone.
In religious circles there is a concept that says " A person can only be held responsible for what they have been taught." Also sometimess the privledge to handle a powerful tool ( Like computers ) is put into our hands, without a training manual. Increased skill is only aquired by using the tool.
