do Ants build huge circuliar sand piles around the holes leading to their nests in the ground?
Today, during my morning walk, I observed many of these sand pile Ant condominiums. Just seemed kind of strange.

This is more than just the detritus thrown out when digging the hole?

Finally rememberd to bring my camera on my morning walk, & took a pix of the ANT HILLS. They really look much better in person. Oh Well.

I thought that if the ants think it's going to rain, they build little mounds to sandbag the entrance to their little nests.
