Abbey knows I love Robert Carlyle. Quite accidently, at the library, I stumbled upon a series of DVDs. A series ( three seasons) of a television show called Hamish McBeth. I have loved every minute of it. This series was one of the first things Carlyle did. He is police officer in a small Scotish village by the sea. I havent loved anything this much since Six Feet Under.
Anyone familiar with it? Now I am obsessed with Scotland.

Hi Weeder,
My niece Michele loves those programs about Hamish and I'm on a list for these videos of his from Netflex. You might like to check out books and some movies of Rosamunde Pilcher's books. She is a fabulous Scottish writer who wrote loads of books. My favorites were September and Coming Home....all about Scotland. They're both in DVD's here. I ADORED the book and dvd of September.
I still miss 6 ft under and deadwood:mad:

The Hamish MacBeth series were filmed around Plockton and Ullapool. But they never showed the palm trees which grow there.
After all, you aren't supposed to have palm trees on the same latitude as Alaska............

Yes, recently acquired the DVD myself. Know Plockton well. You don't get the cattle wandering around the streets any more (there's some obscure crofting legislation that allowed them to wander freely in the streets) one of them killed a tourist. Apart from that it hasn't changed much.
I'm sure you can see the palm trees in some of the views of the sea front. They're in front of the hotel.
Have a look for local hero. The humour is in a similar vein.
