Every cloud has a silver lining

When I got back from Paris, someone had scraped my car outside the house and then I opened a letter off the Police to discover I had a ticket for doing 58mph on a 40mph road.
It was a long empty dual carriageway at 1pm but the judgement I was using was still contrary to the law of the land. So the fine was £60.
My mate said that my insurance might be invalid if I didn't disclose this event. I decided to randomly select an insurer online and get 2 quotes - one with a speeding ticket and one without to see how much the difference was.
It turns out that even with disclosure, I have been able to switch to like for like insurance with another company, which is £246 cheaper. So considering the fine, speeding has made me £186 better off.
Thank you P.C. Plod
