Minime has to dress as Hades for a project at school. We have looked at loads of images of him and cannot work out which ones are correct. So can anyone help?

Does he wear a crown? Does he have a beard? Is his fork, two prongs or three?

:-6:-6

Coincidently, my older son played Hades in the high school play Persephone years ago. If I remember correctly, he wore black, cape, etc. He must look regal and handsome, and both attractive and foreboding.:wah: He enjoyed playing the part.

I quite like this one, it's contemporary Greek (c. 470 BC). That on his head is a laurel wreath rather than a crown. The cornucopia is a bit large but it's a ram's horn filled with the fruits of the earth.

"Hades' weapon was a two-pronged fork, which he used to shatter anything that was in his way or not to his liking, much as Poseidon did with his trident".

I hope it's warm where he's wearing it.

If you look at http://penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/R ... lamys.html that's as good a description as I can find of the standard male classical Greek daywear. If it was cold they had the Abolla, a loose woollen cloak, to supplement the scarf. There's articles in that illustrated dictionary on the himation, achiton and chiton which show how each was put on and what they looked like.

None of this is very like the common perception of Greek dress. You'd do better with a suitable web page from a costume hiring shop.

Oh Pheasy, I know what you mean. These school projects look "cool" on paper, but when you go to do them, they are really hard. We just had to do one on Myths, what a PITA!:)
