I make them every holiday, it is fun to talk to everyone. It doesn't work when it's the in-laws. I wrote them and told them my husband was well enough to go to church a few times with me. He was happy to get out of the house and do something, and he remembers quite a few people there. He could say "Hello" and smile alot and was quite happy. A very big improvement in his condition.
But, his family is Russian Orthodox. They were not happy to hear such news, and not very nice on the phone today when I called them to wish them Happy Easter. It is not their Easter-I knew that, but I call all my family and wish them the same, and talk about what's up. Even my husband pouted and knew what the conversation was about with his mother on the phone.
Do you ever make family phone calls, then wish afterwards you hadn't made them?

I typically don't make them, then wish later that I had. I like your way better.

Ahhhhh Chonsi:-4
That's a shame for his parents to act that way. I'm so happy that he's doing better.:-6
Yes, I hate to make those phone calls so I email and hope they get it in time. I'm in deep, deep doo doo tonight as I decided not to drive up north to my brother's home for Easter. There's tons and tons of traffic and they decide to have dinner at 7 PM tonight.....I'm the only one who has to go to work tomorrow so I decided not to go...oy vey. Why couldn't they have an early brunch

Oh, it is always better to make them. I just talked to my grandmother, and everytime I do, I think it could be the last time. She is 98. I never regret calling her every weekend and holiday, we are very close. I have called her like this for about 35 years, gosh, I am getting old.
Everyone else was fun to talk to today!

Yes, an early brunch would have been nice for you. They must surely understand.

No they wouldn't understand Chonsi, that's why I emailed. They expect me to be there at their beck and call. Don't wanna have any more guilt trips or pouts so I email:wah:
I did make a few lovely calls to my friends in Florida:-4 Can't wait to see them in April.

I make them on the important holidays. Honestly, though, I talk to my family on a more than regular basis. The "special occasion" phone calls usually only last a moment, because we've nothing left to say to each other.
Happy Jesus Zombie Day to you all!

:-4 Oh, that is so sweet, JAB. My big brother answered the phone at grandma's, and I had talked to him earlier. I got to talk to him twice!

Holiday calling is the only time I get a chance to have a great conversation with my Nephew. Very busy with his Band
I just talked to him - Laughed - I love to hear his giggle
I miss him very much
My Nephew & Sister are the only relatives I call..
Works for me

I don't call anyone, and stopped feeling guilty about it a long time ago.....I used to and one time I got my feelings majorally hurt and decided that I wouldn't set myself up for that again....plus my parents are local, only other people I would call are grandparents, and mom calls and gives them the updates, we will see them soon, so I'm good!
Kathy, I feel ya on the guilt trips and pouts, I would have emailed also!!
Chonsi, I am sorry that your hubby's family weren't understanding, you are such a strong person, glad you had other good conversations to make up for the bad one.:-4
Happy Easter!:-6

How could they possibly not be over the moon at such wonderful news - you're working miracles helping him to recover, who would not be happy at that.

Lately mine have been revolving around such matters as your daughter is in jail or your mom has been drinking drano again. Other than that its all good.

She's a ungrateful person who likes to bring everyone down with her. When I talk to her she always puts me down for being married at a young age.
She'd probably put you down for being an old maid, otherwise. F'get her.

You did the right thing Chonsi!!!!!! Easter hugs for you.. And for you too AngelEyes and Kathy.
My family is so spread out now it's hard to keep in touch. But we do. My husband is in Paris as I write with my youngest daughter. I got a call from my son (in London) yesterday. He'd been incommunicado for a week. He wished me Happy Easter. No, he wasn't late.. it was a very early Happy Easter for next year!! :sneaky: Love it. And him.
(I can relate to the bad phone calls too. There are some relatives that you must phone or be phoned by, and the calls are always, inevitably, totally horrible.. and reverberate through your psyche all day.. )
