It's normal to be nervous. I've done a lot of counselling too and sometimes it makes you feel a little worse before you feel better as you will have to confront things that you haven't thought about/dealt with for a while but in the long run it is really helpful. Just remember to be open and honest and willing to take advice. Best of luck.

Don't know the issues at hand Skit, but nevertheless it is wise of you to seek outside help. Especially when things can't be seem to be resolved on your own. GOOD LUCK & Best Wishes!

Omni: Good luck and yes, I think you should at least try out the Counsellor. I've had tough times and used counselling, but no longer - One good counsellor (who was also a colleague) and a number of, well, I'm sure they believed in what they were doing, but "charlatans" is still the word that springs to mind.
I've known a number of people get addicted to counselling. At that point, they aren't sorting out their problems, they are just shifting them around.

It's normal to be uneasy when you're telling your personal business to a stranger, but they're there to help you and not to judge you. Hopefully you will build a rapport with your counselor and feel much more at ease, but as with any relationship, that does take a bit of time.
