Trouble in Zimbabwe

We may not be able to do much, but we haven't forgotten Zimbabwe. Cold comfort, I know:(

Either the writer of this letter is a very classy fraud or it is genuine. I think on balance it's genuine. Thanks for passing it on.

as you propably know i live in south africa and i think i am therefore in the best position to reply to this ...

i have friends in zim and they paid me a surprise visit on monday on their way to the uk for a holiday ...

we spoke at length about the conditions in zim and their response to my question ... "how are things in zim?" was "fine ... no problems at all ... "

now i am certain that the very poor are suffering but that is the case in ALL countries and not just in africa ...

if anything like the conditions described in this thread were true ... we would be faced with a flood of refugees from across out border and to the best of my knowledge this has not happened ... south africa has a free press and by now we would have been informed of such happenings ...

i like most normal people am disgusted by president mugabes actions or lack of actions after the recent elections ... but i certainly think this thread is a fraud ...

i think all the evidence shows that there IS bloodshed, a lot of it, going on all the time. Amnesty international are strongly involved and there are fears that its going to be another Rwanda.

I feel so helpless about it. I dont think any of the countries that COULD help will do anything about it as there is no financial incentive, same as they didnt with Rwanda

jj: Whereabouts do your friends who said everything was fine live? It may not be the same place as the events John Winters describes. As someone a long way from these events, I now have one assertion things are spiralling into (more) terror and another that there are no problems at all.

Given Mugabe's track record, the latter assertion is something of a surprise. To put it mildly.

This email could be anti Mugabe propaganda.

No doubt it tugs on your heartstrings but few if any facts to chew over.
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth
