I could be wrong but I don't believe the "Three Stooges" were ever meant to be educational.
Besides that was before my time. I grew up on Foghorn Leghorn, The Jetsons and Fred Flintstone.:wah:

Barney always gave me the creeps for some reason
I was completely terrifed of Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street. I can't even explain but I thought he was horrendous as a child.
I've been in therapy ever since.

Barney was my oldest boys favorite show on the planet, next to sesame street. I think Sesame Street started when I was in like Jr. High though, so I missed it. Barney may be creepy, but the morals and manners taught on that show and the street were great tools in helping bring up pretty decent kids. Sponge Bob is a fav of the whole household here!

I am another Scooby fan!! --I always call my kids "Meddlin' teenagers"....
Although Scooby and spongebob aren't really educational, I love 'em both.
I am one of the kids that grew up on the street--Sesame street aired first when I was a little 'un!! And I LOVED sesame street, and does anyone remember Zoom or Electric Company??? New Zoo Revue??? :wah:
My son used to LOVE between the Lions and this one fun one.....:wah:

I loved watching New Zoo Revue with my kids! Henrietta Hippo was my favorite!
There was also a show about a mannequin that came to life when the store closed. It wasn't on long. I can't for the life of me remember the name.

Peg, I loved New Zoo Revue! :-4
What about Big Blue Marble and The Electric Company and ZOOM?
And what about Winkydink? That show taught us to draw on our parents' television screens on top of Saran wrap. One day Mom didn't put any saran wrap on the TV and I drew what Winkydink told me to- on the naked screen. :wah:
This is a 1954 episode, earlier than my time but it'll give you an idea:

I don't remember winkydink.....and I could see why they probably took it off the air, you probably weren't the only child that wrote on the tv screen!:o
I mentioned Electric Company and Zoom, they were some of my faves too....I loved henrietta hippo too!!
I was trying to think of a show my oldest son loved when he was little and I actually found it on youtube....it was called Eureeka's castle....
There were other ones like Gullah Gullah Island and Lamb chop.... I LOVED lamb chop!!:wah:

Sherry Lewis and Lambchop was great except for the "This is the song that doesn't end". :wah: I don't remember Blue Marble or Winkydink.
I enjoyed watching Barney with my kids, but they Barney'd me to death! My mom was in her 60s and had no little ones but watched it every day faithfully. :wah:

I loved the song that never ends!!! That helped me calm my son so many times, if he was really hyper, we would start singing that just to divert his hyper activity and it was GREAT!!
Barney taught good manners and the clean up song was very catchy....another fun one that my nephew loves and so did my younger ones....was Blue's Clues!:)

Sorry Wendy, I guess I skipped past the ones you mentioned- and I read the whole thread too!
I too loved Lambchop. I still do in fact and we have a couple of Lambchop puppets at our house.
I agree- Barney does teach good manners and to be honest here, I don't mind Barney but it's those disgustingly happy kids that bug me- take a valium already!! :wah:
Remember the owl and...kitten?? Who lived in the tree in Mr.Rogers neighborhood? They were cool. Lady Elaine was okay too but that freaky lady puppet they had creeped me out!

Yeah, the kids were pretty creepy weren't they? haha............I never liked the part on mr. rogers when they went to the make believe land or whatever they called it. The owl and the old lady gave me the heebie geebies..........that porcelean chin of hers.....
I especially loved when mr rogers came on cuz me and my first born would sit and relax, his voice was so soothing, it calmed me down from a stressful mom morning........i loved the videos on how things were made.....
