My eldest son is in Ireland, right now. Im happy for him, and ooh how I wish I could have gone on this trip. We are of Irish and Itallian descent. He began researching the family geneology a couple of years ago, and this trip is the culmination of his project. He will be there for almost two weeks. His itinerary is plotted to take him to little towns, small villages and pubs. He simply wants to be with the people, and to experience his heritage. He and I are very much alike. Like me, he has always been more drawn to the Irish side of his enviorment, than the Itallian. This is because he found his Irish relatives to be fun loving, easy going, down to earth, mischeaveous, and lovable. I think he will come home totally in love with the country. I am thrilled he is having this experience. This is the beginning for him, of discovering the world. Love you, John.

I hope he knows that when the Irish get drunk (all the time) they head out in the streets and throw potatoes at eachother.

Tell him to be careful.

He's right you know! I got hit with a potato once, and yeah...That's right, it was a drunken Irishman.......Luckily he threw like a girl, or I could have been seriously injured....

Oh yes they throw potatoes at people all the time. It could be worse, if you visit Scotland they throw haggises at you, and they hurt :D

And they appear to be proud of it.

You eegits, have ye never heard of the great potato throwing battle against the English in 1778? Twas on that day, that the Irish first discovered their love for the noble tuber, when a man on Sackville Street decided he'd had enough of Lord Fortenesque driving around in his peasant-powered carraige, and he gave these new-fangled vegetables free of charge to Dubliners to throw at the offending toff's head, of course "trouble" ensued and many potatos were thrown that day at the haughty lord (who responded with leeks) and his retinue of fine ladies and redcoats, and sure wasn't it the brave Widow Nangle who managed to get a Kerr Pink right in his priviliged gob, breaking his teeth, and ending his terrible habit of singing Norse war songs every morning on his way to mass. :-6
