We went out to dinner, and our waitress was excellent! Soooo, I could not go without posting about it (as I moaned about the customer services so much the other day). The girl was happy, helpful, paid attention to detail and she made our family evening out a pleasure ... we shall certainly be returning to the restaurant and will be requesting the same waitress :-6
I will always make sure that bad service, and good service, is reported to the manager (and if applicable area manager). Sadly, over here a good tip is expected regardless, so I feel that a big pat on the back is also necessary. So if you have ever been somewhere and there is this brit either, complaining very loudly, or complementing very loudly it's probably me

. Okay joking aside I just think that people should compliment good service more, and complain more about bad service. Where I live people don't seem to complain, or compliment ... I was wondering why?
Example. We recently went to a pancake house...well it was terrible, the service was cr4p, appalling .... everyone was mumbling, yet not doing anything about it, but when 'old gobby' got up (:D) they all agreed. Have you ever seen a riot in a pancake house
Why put up with it.
On the other hand, in addition to complimenting the person and the manager, I have also sent emails (naming names) of people who have really done an excellent job. Recently we returned to a restaurant where I had done just that ... they not only recognised us, they said as a result of my email, they were visited by the area manager who publicly commended them all for their good work, the email is framed on the wall (they showed me it). The manager said it was a real morale booster - he noticed the difference in his workers.
I just wish people wouldn't just accept stuff! :-6

My hubby does not complain even if it is cr4p service, but on the other hand he has to put up with me because I do complain. I have sent things back to the kitchen, once I did it twice.:wah: Thought he was gonna climb under the table. Cr4p service equals cr4p tip.

I'm one of those people too that would most likely sit quiet unless things are really bad. I've found that if you complain, (certain places mind you,) that it wouldn't make the blindest bit of difference how much you complain it won't change a thing in the future, just the fact that you certainly won't be coming back to eat there again.
On the other hand I like giving extra praise when the service has been good, especially if you get a thankful response from the staff, and of course you will be more likely to come back, or tell your friends about the place.

This complaint happened at a very nice restaurant years ago. The place we go to now has excellent service and the last time we went it was my birthday and it happened to be the owner's birthday also and I got a free dessert:D It is my favorite place to go out for nice occasions. No complaining at this place or they'd probably throw you in the creek, :wah:

Well it's always nice when you can find somewhere that treats you as a customer really nice and together with good service and great food really make you enjoy the experience and want to come back.
Sadly (at least where I live,) there aren't enough of these restaurants around just fast food outlets or cafes where as long as they get your money, they aren't bothered whether you end up happy or not!

This subject should also include customer service at stores and online.
I just ordered some shampoo from Bath & Body Works. The package arrived with a nice odor. Hah, when I opened the box all the shampoo had leaked. Well I called and emailed customer service and they sent out a gift card worth the money I had spent. Nice. :-4

That's nice to hear. I guess it just depends on what kind of service all these places decide they are going to offer. You would think it would be in their own benefit to keep people happy if something has gone wrong, so as to not destroy there own reputation or hurt business.
But hey what do I know!!? :wah:

yes, they do want you to come back and patronize their stores/restaurants, so they sort of bend over backwards to please you.
