Since we have a large contingent of the English and a large contingent of American posters on this board I have to ask...
Anyone else anticipating the England vs USA game coming up on May 28th as much as I am?...

I reckon Capello, only being 2 games into his role as coach, and it being a friendly match, he'll take this opportunity to try out new players and tactics. He's picked a 31 man squad, and he's getting the team together for 11 days prior to the match.....So I'm expecting new faces, and/or tactics from England. Therefore I'm thinking it's whatever Bradley plans to do, whether he does the same and tries out new players, or fields a strong USA side, and goes all out for the win.
So K, to cut short my long winded answer ..:wah: I do have a sense of anticipation about this game. I want to see what Capello has up his sleeve, to rejuvenate an England side that's been pretty so so, just lately. I like watching the USA team anyway, so I'm hoping for a great match.

It's blatantly obvious to me that the USA will most assuredly submit their strongest side...They're using this game among others as testing ground leading up to World Cup qualifying that begins for them as well as others days after the event...
Just because this is a friendly doesn't mean neither team won't be wanting to win...

I don't think there's any doubt that both sides want to win, but Capello wants to form his own team, not inherit an existing one. To that end, he's been to dozens of EPL games watching English players. All I'm saying is, this is the sort of game to mess around with tactics, bring in new players...Yes he wants to win, but it won't be the end of the earth if he doesn't. You're not going to screw around with player combos and tactics in a competition, or qualifying match. This game seems ideal to try stuff out. That's why I thought your own coach may do something similar..maybe not. We'll see.

Should be a good match, but I do think that even though England will want to win, they will be more interested in experimentation with a new manager and his new ideas he wants to test. Not too mention the pressure will be on England to win, even if it is a friendly, so it wouldn't surprise me if the result was a score draw.

As for if he will be appearing, I think he was annouced in the team, so he may show up, I doubt for long though, I can't believe he features in our new managers long term plans.

Not a footie fan, but the Churchill Cup starts June 7th with USA vs Saxons (England A). Should be a good competition with the Pumas (Argentina) probably winning this year.

Here is a link to a FREE TV viewer on the net. I used it to watch the Women National Team (my niece is on it). I don't have FOXSOCCER Channel and don't want to pay for it. This way I can watch all the game anywhere in the world on my PC, soccer is channel 21500. You will need a ZIP program to install it, very simple and a great way to watch Soccer/Football.

Yeah I know that...
I was just making a statement in regards to the mentality of an athlete...
I also posted that not realizing that European World Cup qualifying is significantly different than that of any other region...I am assuming that's because there is so many teams in Europe...
But in any case I am looking forward to the game...

My business is on hold until we can get the electric company out to change over the electric from the initial circuit breaker to the new one we've installed...
Knowing my luck they will call and say they're on their way 15 minutes before 3pm EST-US time(Kickoff) tomorrow...

chuckle. I think you are convincing me to watch a game of football! A very rare occurance!
However, I'm in a good mood with Lewis Hamilton winning the Monaco Grand Prix and Monty Panesar spinning England to victory in the 2nd Test against the Kiwis. Very exciting! We looked dead and buried but Monty took 6 wickets for about 37 runs in a howling gale - a HUGE performance; then Andrew Strauss saw us home with a good century. Great to see him coming back to form.
Be afraid, K, be very afraid: The last game of footie I watched was England 5 Germany 1!:D

Well I know a lot of people consider friendlies unimportant, but I guess it's just one of those things to keep the players training and working to a high (ish) level, even during off periods. I still also find them fun to watch as even though they don't have the fierce-ness of a more important game, it's a chance to see two teams that don't tend to play each other in action.

Monty was the King in that match, I love watching him in action, and his excited celebrations when he gets a wicket. No wonder the crowd and English public love him!! :guitarist

I agree I'm alway a bit dissapointed when I watch the US Men Play they are always just missing something. Now the Womens National Team is actually fun to watch play. They play every game like its was for the Olympic Gold. Of course I'm a bit partial as my Niece Plays on the WNT and may be going to the Olympics.

Oh how wonderful for your niece, she must be very talented to have made the national side. Of course I love watching the women's game too, obviously not just the skills (which are easily as good as a lot of the men,) but the er........ you know.
I do wonder why the men team though looks half-hearted tonight. I bet that if it were being played in the US (which is actually where I thought it was being played,) the team would be playing with a lot more momentum. Too many away sides seem to just be happy playing defensively, which for the neutral isn't good viewing.
Edit: Within a minute the US just missed a brilliant chance, clearly the manager gave them a talking too at half time!
