Has anyone ever pointed a real loaded gun at you? And If so?
about six years ago i heard one of the woman at our reception desk scream ... when i rushed down the corridor and around the corner ... i saw a man holding a revolver against her head ...
when i made a move to grab him he swung the gun in my direction and pointing it at my chest ... pulled the trigger ...
thankfully the gun misfired and i immediately backed away with my hands raised ...
while he held the gun on me his two companions emptied the cash register, took the two ladies handbags and a laptop and fled ...
only much later when the adrenalin had stopped flowing did i realise how fortunate i had been ...

You were lucky Jj. The only gun I've had pointed at me was a water gun.

You are one lucky man.
No. I've never had a gun pointed at me. Think we are still lucky enough that there aren't that many around in our culture.
Quite a few ex-Forces folk around this forum who probably have though.

I've been shot at but it wasn't on purpose, we were taking tobacco out of a barn a few years ago in a out of the way place and unknown to us a group of guys were having target practice nearby and i guess didn't know we were there.
They were shooting in our direction and there were bullets bouncing off the side of the barn right at my head, i feel my guardian angel must have been with me that day because if i had just moved a little one way or the other i wouldn't be here now!

WOW jj what a strange question
yes - I've had a gun put to my head - I can still feel the pressure & still shake with the thought of it..
I guess we're both very lucky - glad to see we made it thru the situation
Congrats to both of us

Well, we both were seeing her at the time, and when he shot me I was drunk too but not with her. The bullet missed the bone. It didn't hurt all that much. I took a day off work anyway.

Yes :-1
My first husband who was a police officer at the time, arrested people with drugs but took the drugs home (which I didn't know) and was hooked on the pills. One night he came into the bedroom (high) and put his police revolver to my head and pulled the tirgger. TG there were no bullets and then went down the hall to my son's room where he did the same thing to him while I was calling 911. TG again we were not killed by him that night. The update on this story is that many years later (after he was fired from the police dept.) He and my only son went in a car for a ride (I was supposed to go but I was sick that day) they were both killed by a drunk driver. In a way, I wish the gun had gone off that day :-1

Thank you Jj and there are no words left to explain how I feel. There is only one question why didn't he put bullets in that gun that night? I will always ask myself: Why my son and not me? If we had to go, we should have (my son and I) gone together. Sorry, I am to emotional to go on with this thread and hope you all understand. :-1

I am so sorry for your loss, TM.
When my ex-husband and I were dating, we were parked........on a military base. Two guys came up to the car (driver's side) and asked for directions or something I can't remember. They left and a moment later came back and pointed a gun at us through the driver side window. They ordered us to keep our hands on the dash, and took my ex's wallet, then left. We had to go to the MP station to report the incident ofcourse. I'm not sure if they ever caught them. It could have been worse. This was over 30 years ago.
When anyone points a gun at you, whether it's loaded or not is moot. It's still very intimidating. You do as they say for the time being.

OH, Trunk Monkey, I'm so sorry - you've made me tear up .
My Mother married her 3rd husband (nut case)
my sister had a 3 month old (my darling nephew) & 2 yr old (my darling nephew)..
Family gathering at moms - some tension, but enough going on to keep your distance from whoever. @ 1978 - I was @ 20 yrs old.
Everyone's outside, my 3 month old Nephew is inside sleeping - when Nut Case husband starts to flip out - ranting - bitching and goes inside, yelling about his guns.
OMG - my nephew... - I tell my sister to pack up the play pen & the 2 yr. old - I go into get the newborn, I just pick him up off the bed , barely cradling him and in the back of my head a barrel of a gun a 45 cocked & ready - with alot of pressure.
What did I do you ask ??
I had to be just as nuts as him - I starting talking to my Nephew, Grandpa's here -oh, look - Grandpa's here Ya coo coo and the baby needed his bottle bs
I bolted out the front door
threw the baby at my sister - drove away and never went back.
My mother was there along with several others - and they did nothing
they were hiding since they heard the word gun..
Took me years to be able to talk to my mother - not much of a relationship.
My Darling Nephew who I cradled died at the age of 27 in 2005. :-1
I miss him - it's not fair ...

Yeah, a young Italian mafioso guy pointed a 9mm at me in Munich, Germany one night at a small bar, while I was waiting for my friend who was a German Elvis impersonator. He was only trying to scare me though, because I wouldn't believe him that he was some kinda of gangster because he seemed too much of a clique, but he achieved that aim I can tell you. Anyway, the main thing was I didn't get shot in some sort of Sicilian blood feud, while waiting for Ralph "you ain't nothing but a hound dog" Getz.
The other time was when I was going shooting in Ireland with my cousins in co Tipperary, this guy who was with us started messing and was trying to freak me out by pointing a loaded double barrel shotgun at my head and acting all mental. (we were all very young). So my cousin quietly came over, asked him to put the gun down, and then beat the crap out of him, that was justice.

When a buddy and I were moving from Nova Scotia to Ontario, back in 1970, we were going through PQ taking the back roads. We had had our share of car trouble on the trip and wanted to avoid the trans canada hwy. I can't remember what town we were passing thru, but we came up over a hill and saw police cars all over the hwy with lights flashing. I swear there must have been 20 of them in one spot. A portly police officer was standing in the middle of the road waving his arms. My buddy say "There must have been an accident, turn right here" So i made a right hand turn and went on my way. Within 2 mins we were swarmed with police cars behind, beside and in front of us.
apparently, there had been a prison break that day and 2 men got away in a car very similar to ours. When I stop and rolled down my window to see what was going on there was a Quebec Provincial Police officer with his sidearm jammed in my face and another yanking my buddy from the car. I don't think I had to dew laundry that night but it was close. These cops meant business!

Not a gun, but a heavy duty catapult (used by fishermen for catapulting bait into the middle of the river).
We ran a river trip boat and had moored on our jetty to take on the next group of passengers. I noticed that a gang of youngsters (boys) around the 12 - 15 years age, were hassling and jibing the families in the queue waiting for their boat trip. So I approached the one who appeared to be the leader and asked him to go away and leave these people alone as they were frightening the children. There were a few abusive remarks, but they moved away, so I apologised to the people in the queue and started to return to the boat ready to help the people to board. I was about half way back to the boat when there was a shout, I turned and saw that the gang had returned and the 'leader' had a large catapult aimed at me and pulled back hard ready to fire. My son, on the boat, saw this and leapt off and ran up the grass towards this youth, followed by Jim another crewman. My son stopped in front of me, between the youth and me, shouting for the youth to put the catapult away, the youth shouted abuse back at him and took a step forwards. My son was seething and started to run at the youth but Jim grabbed him, holding him back. My son managed to wriggle free and ran towards this youth, who turned tail and ran, along with the rest of his gang. One man against about 12 youths !!
The queue of people with their children were ushered on to the boat, one or two children were crying, and obviously all the people were upset by the whole incident.
Actually at the time, I was not too worried about this youth's antics, but my son said that he knew this particular youth and that he was a bit of a psycho and that he had no doubt that the youth would have let go the catapult at me, and the missile in the pouch could have severely hurt me, could have even killed me if it hit me in the eye. That was a bit of a shock to me.
My son, apparently, later on went to visit Winston (not his proper name) who was a well 'respected' resident of that area, told him about the incident. Winston was horrified that 'these nice people - from the boat' were getting such hassle, and he would 'sort it'.
We never saw this particular youth or his gang near our jetty again ! My son did see the youth some weeks later on, walking along a street with his gang, but the youth just glared at him and with the others crossed to the other side of the street and said nothing to my son !! I guess Winston kept his word !
True this isn't nearly as frightening as facing a gun, I admit, and also at the time I did not feel desperately threatened, although I was apprehensive. It was not till afterwards that the realisation of the potential danger hit home.

Thank you CP! I have posted this also in the need a hug thread. But this one is for my son:
I miss you
Every day when im in my bed
i toss and turn dreaming of you.
Why now did you have to go
And I have never sank this low.
Because..
I miss you
I miss your hugs
the way you put your arms around me
Oh i just wish I could make you see
That every night your in my head
like all the love has just over fled ohh..
In the dark now and then
you aint here with me
in life when i look ahead
you aint here to smile at me....
I miss you
I miss your hugs
the way you put your arms around me
Oh i just wish I could make you see
That every night your in my head
like all the love has just over fled ohh..
I just want you to know..
that i love you....
