Gravity Always Wins¦ Or Does It?

I saw such an original T-shirt slogan recently. A woman was wearing it, with the words “GRAVITY ALWAYS WINS! emblazoned across the bust area.
That got me thinking ... How strong is the force of gravity really and how can we equate it to life?
Gravity can obviously be beaten - you only have to take into account aeroplanes, for example, or something as simple as a helium balloon.
We all know people who tend to be like the force of gravity - pulling us down when all we want to do is move up. Chances are that whenever you make a decision to step out of your comfort zone and take a step into something unknown but potentially beneficial and exciting, there will be at least one or two people who are like a force of gravity - holding on to you and trying to pull you back to your “usual self.
What we need to realise about “gravitational people, is that it is not necessarily about their doubt in YOU that makes them want to pull you downwards again with negative words and disbelief, but rather their OWN insecurities. They may fear losing you or may be fearful that you may get hurt in the process.
Think about it¦ In a race with two contestants, the further forward the leader moves, the further back the second runner looks. Without them even being conscious of it, not all people in our network of life circles necessarily want to see us succeed - because it then draws attention to how further back they are. They are not comfortable stepping out of their comfort zones, and it is therefore easier to attempt to pull back down to where they are, rather than them moving upwards and outwards - a daunting prospect for anyone with self-esteem issues.
The sooner we realise that negative comments and lack of support, whether from friends, family colleagues or strangers, is not necessarily a personal attack, but rather the result of the “gravitational person’s own insecurities, the easier it becomes to break free of such negativity and soar - and hopefully eventually convince the pessimists around us that they can do it too!
