You'll probably laugh at this, but I would like a German boyfriend. I live in the UK. & I am in my 30's & I would like to know if there's any German forums or online German dating sites where I can meet & make new friends who are German? I am looking for someone who is patient, witty, adventourouse, kind-hearted and good looking (obviously).
I'm looking for genuine romance, not cyber or casuel sex ( as some people put it)
Many thanks. I'll add additional details if requested.

Can you write computer programs? Patient, witty, adventurous, kind-hearted and good looking are all attributes of computer programmers and if you can do it too you could mingle with their Open Source community.
Is your German good enough to translate into English? German open source computer programmers probably have lots of documentation they'd like translating and if you were a team member of a German Internet open source programming group you'd get to pick the most patient, witty, adventurous, kind-hearted and good looking member.

I was thinking of the volunteers somewhere like
http://www.knopper.net/knoppix-links but looking at it - you'll see there's a lot of call for language translation - it tends to be technical. There might be a company behind it somewhere but the majority interest is in the volunteer side of building excellent open source software.
Less technical but full of enthusiastic volunteers speaking German would be
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page and translating pages from there into
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page would bring you into contact with Germans interested in the articles you were looking at. I'm sure they'd be pleased to help, advise and socialize. Uing the Google language translator and a dictionary and cleaning what it says into good English would make you very popular, asking what things mean on the articles' talk pages will get you friendly replies. It seems an improvement on dating sites with far less pressure and a lot more relevance to learning the language quickly, that's all.

For a moment there, I thought Spot was going to say that he was in fact German. :wah:

That's a good start!

Actually Spot might be on to something, I have a fellow programmer buddy that meets all the requirements... and is bi-lingual German/English... last I heard he was dating, but it was nothing serious.

I'm trying to remember a skipping rhyme we used in the school playground. If you got to the end of it you could choose who you wanted to double-skip it with you, not many pairs could double-skip all the way through the repeat. It was in German and involved a lost key. Rats, it's on the tip of my tongue and I can't get to it. Ich bin dein, du bist mein, something something wissen sein.

I've a horrid suspicion I've left out a line. Maybe not, on reflection, all the beats are there.
Ich bin dein, du bist mein,
das ist etwas gewiss sein.
Du bist immer in meinem Herzen.
Weil der Schlussel weg-geworfen war,
du musst also immer dort bleiben.
You had to skip each syllable of the middle line and every other syllable of the other lines and the skipping rope sped up as fast as it could for those eight beats to make it harder.

Aura, how much excitement can you take when it comes to music?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medieval_rock has to be a window into the German Soul and a source of lots of online conversation if you discover where admirers of Corvus Corax hang out. I note that there's not likely to be many women among them which gives you a head start.

Boy if you ever find out will you be sure to let me know ?
I was looking for a boyfriend from the Kunlun Shan region of China but I gave up. Those guys are the cream of the crop and theyre grabbed up quicker than you can drop a hankie.
German men...Das ist echt toll!
