If you had a choice, which would you rather pay, a tax on your income or a tax on your spending? Why?

Do you mean as the tax is set up now? I'd rather pay on my income. I generally get a large chunk of that back every year.

What, no option C, where we get to shoot the taxman?? (Just kidding, Lon :yh_bigsmi)

Not only do they get to charge you taxes when you buy things already, they also get to take it out of your check too. In Canada either/or does not exist. Pay! Pay! Pay, is all she wrote.

3rd highest taxed country in the world I might add.

Get this I will have to pay tax on my spousal suport

I will have to pay tax on the interest I gained while the lawyers held funds for the sale of our joint house during our divorce. Crikey now isn't that just a kick in the pants, just another blow during this criminal divorce.

All the money I lost oddly stems from...Taxes imagine that,

I'd rather be taxed on my spending because I can control what I spend.

You are right about that but it is the dollars that don't go into the healthcare that bothers us(me). It is a good system and hopefully Americans will figure out how to make it happen to you and your own. It is run by the federal government and looked after by the provinces. That is a good place to start. Soon come!
