They are showing a tv show tonight in the US called the "Outsiders" about people who instead of adopting needy children are instead adopting monkeys. And worse, they are taking them to parks to "interact" with real kids, dressing them up in clothes, taking them on walks in strollers. Uggh. It is weird. And the best part the show is asking "where did these people go wrong"? What is your opinion?

Glad I don't watch TV anymore, that sounds very sad. Do they have the proper permits to have the monkeys out in the playground with children? I would think you would need an exotic animal license or something.

Let us know what happens, QS.

Ghads, my kids were enough to handle, I wouldn't want a monkey too!

Could you imagine having a crib/stroller/highchair forever? I mean, really. I wonder if they can potty train them?:wah:

Oh, I'm sure you can. But a perpetual child? No way-but the sarcastic me says, I already have one anyway in my husband. :(

Monkey business-we should get Nomad the private eye to go and check them out in person.

They were showing the preview today on tv and these monkeys were in a swing and a kid came over and hugged the monkey and of course, the monkey swiped the kid. The poor kid looked so scared. It's on ABC tomorrow at 10pm.

Oh, they are not used to children. I might stay up and watch it, if I get out of a meeting fast enough tomorrow night.

That famous chimp Moe used to live not far from us, there was always a controversy over him.

The couple brought him home from Africa, he was an orphan. They built him an enclosure against the house, it went up to the roof. Moe caught the crooks robbing the house across the street by alerting the police, but a lady stuck her finger in the cage afterwards-he bite it off, I think. Moe was sent to a place where chimps lived until he finally died not long ago. But everyone liked Moe, and were mad at the lady for sticking her finger in there in the first place, and for Moe getting sentenced to live somewhere else the rest of his life. (the condensed version)

A monkey is an animal, people,..........not human. They are very smart and wonderful creatures, but to expect them to act like human beings is unfair and can be dangerous. I wonder what our resident "Trunk Monkey" thinks about all this?

No, it was in a suburb of LA.

Looks like he's missing or something, here is today's link. (I thought he had died, he's 42) But all the background story is kind of there on another page.

Some people prefer animals over kids and there's nothing wrong with that.I think they should let them be monkeys and not have to wear ridiculous clothing and all that and they shouldn't be babied. They have their own lives and ways and those should be respected.
