Are you someone who walks by a tossed penny? Or do you pocket them all? Or just pocket the ones that landed heads up? I'm not too proud to pick up a penny and almost got run over once as I was trying to peel one off the street. I pick them up heads or tails. I do have standards though. If it's in an ashtray or on a public bathroom floor, it stays there.

Note to self - read titles properly then you won't think that this thread is about male apendages!!
If I see a penny then I may pick it up but then it'd probably go into a charity pot somewhere, I don't like to benefit from someone else's loss no matter how small.

For some reason, i'm always finding pennies, it seems like a lot of times all i have to do is get out the car, look down at the ground, and there's a penny. it's almost as bad as the 4-leaf clovers a couple of years ago!
i do pick them all up, just because of that old saying, "see a penny pick it up all day long have good luck, but let it lay and have bad luck all the day! :wah:

I'll pick up pennies off the ground as long as they are heads up. I see a lot of people walk out of a store and toss their pennies on the ground, in the trash, or in an ashtray. If they took them home and tossed them in a jar they'd be suprised how fast they add up.

we've got machines here now in the grocery stores, where you carry you're jar of money you pour it in and it counts it, prints a voucher and you cash it in at the cash register, it's much easier than going to the bank, but they do charge a fee for doing it.

we used one of those in florida, we kept a pot to put loose change in, cashed it up before we left so we could tip the baggage handlers at the airport.

Had a gal pal once, that used to scatter 50 pennies about her living room floor. Then, she would pick one up, walk over to a shelf, drop the penny into her penny jar, go back and pick up another---50 times. Said it helped keep her belly flatter.

oh it comes up on the screen that they take 8 cents out of every dollar and you have to push OK and accept that before it will continue!
but like you say, it beats counting all that change! :-6

Is it attached to a supermarket, Helen? Either that's a lot of coins or you've been collecting them since before decimalization!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EXECUTIVE-AUOTMAT ... .m14.l1318 is a "Throw Your Coins On The Top Of The Machine And Will Automatically Sort The Coins Out In The Right Denomination" battery-operated machine. It costs £15 delivered. At an 8% service charge in the supermarkets, this machine would be cheaper than the supermarket service if you were sorting £200 in coins. The last time I sorted a pile of coins in a pot it came to £16.
