"Mans Best Friend" they are that and so much more. Jimbo this little fur ball is just what you needed. Nothing more loyal than a "puppy duppy" he will never leave your side, will worship you daily, and make you laugh till you cry. All you have to do is feed, walk, and pet them and you get back 100% devotion. Doesn't get any better than that.

Its amazing how quickly they find a place in your heart isnt it:D Im sure it wont be long before Suzy is saying oi1 you love that dog more than me!:wah:only joking i know suzy adres him too(the dog i mean).
I'm the same with mine i thought i would miss my lie ins etc. but no i dont mind at all rushing a coffee down cos i have to take the dog out, and yes you do het to talk to more people. i have found myself sort of judging people as well though, although im sure i shouldnt:wah: Some will just walk by without making any sort of eye contact(dogless people) some will smile and acknowledge you, then theres the dog loveers who smile, at your dog not you, and the ones who sy hello, again to the dog not you:wah: I always know a fellow staffy owner by the way the come straight over and say hello, immediately drop down to their kjnees so that my dog can practicaly climb on to thier shoulders and give their ears and neck a good wash:wah: you can tell a lot about people while walking a dog;)

had a bit of a scare with my old boy a few months ago, thought he might have prostate cancer.
male springers aparantly produce too much testosterone, a major factor in this type of cancer, so at the ripe old age of seven, he had his bits removed :-2:o
he's now got the all clear and my bank balance has been cleared out
as kaz said, never again will i begrudge getting out of bed on days like we've had today to take him for his run.
and run he does, head down, mouth open scooping up water like a mechanical digger.
this rough tough hunting shooting type dog has now, for the second time today, been dryed with a hair dryer and once again is laying beside me wrapped in a towel til he dries off completely.
my life wouldnt be the same without the mud, dirt, hair and SNORING.............

the kids said they would walk him but i knew that would last all of two minutes but then i got to love the little fella , now when i get up he is just so pleased to see me and i really look foreward to taking him out on his walks even if its pouring with rain like today and when i'm having the most terrible of days with my daughter and i really feel like crap ,the little fella comes up snuzzels into me and the lump in my throat slowly goes away and i know at least someone loves me ,getting the little poop factory was the best thing thats happened in ages it just shows how wrong a guy can be

It's amazing what dogs can bring to people...and how they can change your life. I have a 75lb Chow that thinks she's bad, but if someone new comes in the house, she barks, growls, and runs to hide behind momma (she's a daddys girl tho). My "baby" is a 140lb Great Pyrenees. He knows my moods and loves to cuddle. He thinks he's a lap dog, but the only part of him that fits in my lap is his head. He drools A LOT and shakes his head to get slobber all over the place, but I could never replace the bond we have. :-4

Jimbo...I'm so glad that you love Alfie as much as he loves you. I completely relate to the walks and people being friendly. Since we've moved to the new location, I have to drive to the battlefield for our walks (used to be able to walk in neighborhood) and we go almost everyday around the same time in the evening, and we will see people with their dogs, some friendly, some not so friendly....but Saturday I was walking with my little 2 year old nephew in the park with my two dogs (the boys were with their dad) and this big 6'2" guy starts up conversation about the dogs and ends up walking to his car that was near mine and we were talking about different breeds of dogs and someone suggested that he get a pug and he said that they aren't masculine enough for him, he needs a big dog....of course I chime in with "my dad has a pug and he's 6' 2" and she is a princess"....so, I'm thinking that might have killed that new friendship I was hoping for!
