They are called "nosmokatol" and are made by the makers of the world famous birth control pill called "Noassatol".

Chantix? I know it sure is helping a guy at work. The down side is one of the side affects is suicidal thoughts. I'm thinking not smoking would be more responsible for that than the pills. :wah:

Cyanide tablets are absolutely guaranteed to cure the smoking habit.

I don't see that as nasty, I see that as Lons very dry sense of humour
Good Luck giving up :-6

Gave up for 11 months, cried myself to sleep the first 4 months & was hell to live with, craving settled to some extent but still missed them every single day of those 11 months. Made an informed choice to start again, much happier now
Good luck Kay, its worth a try :-4

My husband used the Chantix and it helped him immensley. I tried them and they took a little of the cravings away, but I still wanted to kill someone.:wah: Needless to say, I'm back to puffing away and need to stop again. It's not easy, just believe in yourself and try to remove all your triggers.

Good for you if your lungs are clear...now is definitely time to quit BEFORE something shows up. I know, I'm not one to talk and I've seen x-rays of my lungs and still haven't managed to go past the 2 month mark.

First you have got to accept that smoking is NOT only an addiction ¦ it is a habit ¦ habits are formed in our sub conscious so you have to train your sub-conscious mind to get rid of this HABIT ¦ but you really and truly got to WANT to quit ¦ to get rid of this HABIT right? If so then follow these steps ..
STEP ONE ¦ fix a date on which YOU will become a NON SMOKER ¦ never again mention the fact that you are going to give up or stop smoking ¦ you are going to become a NON SMOKER ¦ this date should preferable be on or close to something significant ¦ someone's birthday ¦ an anniversary ¦ some special date ¦ BUT it should NOT be further away than a calendar month ¦
STEP TWO ¦ decide on something ¦ a gift for yourself .. maybe something you have been wanting to own but have not been able to afford maybe .. anything ¦ a pair of shoes whatever ¦ this will be your REWARD for becoming a NON SMOKER and you will use some of the money you save to buy this thing ¦
STEP THREE ¦ once you have decided on the date ring it boldly on a calendar where you can see it every day ¦ then tell everyone you speak to that ¦"on such and such a date" ¦ I am going to become a NON SMOKER ¦"
STEP FOUR ¦ do NOT attempt to stop smoking before this date ¦ continue just the way you have with your smoking ¦
STEP FIVE ¦ tell yourself as many time a day as you can and say it aloud ¦ "on such and such a date ¦ (whatever date you have chosen) ¦ I AM GOING TO BECOME A NON SMOKER! Say this morning day and night ¦ also remind yourself of all the benefits you are going to derive from not smoking ¦ including the reward you are going to buy with the money you save ¦
STEP SIX ¦ just before bedtime on the night before you are going to become a NON SMOKER ¦ or if you like when you wake up on the appointed day ¦ take every cigarette you have in your possession plus your lighter/matches and throw them in the rubbish bin ¦ why? cos you are now a NON SMOKER so what do you wanna do with cigarettes?
STEP SEVEN ... keep telling/reminding yourself every day and as many times a day as your like that you are a NON SMOKER ...
try it ... i gave up smoking a long long time ago using this method and every person i know who has used this method has stopped smoking ...

Thanks for the helpful hints Jj...I stopped for 2 months and got so stressed out it was either start drinking again (out of the question, took to long to get clean), kill my hubby (I don't wanna go to jail

) or start smoking again. I wonder if I picked the right one...

Have you tried them yet? The guy at work who took Chantix has stopped taking them and says he has no desire at all for a cigarette. He said the only bad thing he has to say is that things would happen and he wouldn't know if they really happened or it was a dream. He had trouble separating dreams and reality. He woke up one morning with a loaded gun in his hand and had no idea why. He says it was worth it because he can't believe how much better he feels already.

I used to be sitting here on the computer with my ashtray right there and puff away while I was typing and laughing or sighing. I have removed that ashtray and no longer smoke here. (So you guyz are helping me........and thanks)
I used to smoke while I drove my car, smoke while watching TV. But I don't do that any more. If I desire a ciggie here at home, I isolate myself away from hubby. I don't smoke socially. I only take a few to work with me...four....and that's it for an 8 hour work day.
I'm doing "behavior modification" which is going to lead in time to my being a non- smoker. "Cold turkey" is just too much stress for me and I am wary of medicinal cures.
I am making progress...............slow progress..........but progress just the same.

I know about Zyban, which was originally created for depression, but was discovered to also block the receptors in the brain to nicotine addiction. A mate of mine tried it, but it sent him a bit loopy for a while.:-3
To be honest, I'd only try it if all else fails. Patches are good and hypnosis can work too. Changing your habits before you quit helps too...not smoking after eating for a while, not smoking in the car if you tend to do that...that type of thing.

Kay, I gave up smoking years ago and will never go back to smoking. BUT, it was the hardest thing I've ever done. I still miss smoking and love the smell of a cigarette as someone walks by me. I think what you have to do is whenever you want a cigarette at certain times, find something else to do. I always loved to smoke when I was on the phone, after dinner and at a bar. Sooooooo, I didn't go to bars for a year, made phone calls short and took a long walk after dinner. It worked but it was painful and stressful.
btw....the reason why I gave up smoking is because my dear friend died of lung cancer, and we were the last 2 in our group to smoke.
Good luck...you can do it....If I can, you can....

no, just my usual itching that happens with just about anything i take... that's why I stopped after 3 weeks ... i knew the hives were almost upon me...
it got me past the hump of the first couple of days and the weirdest thing I experienced was the total lack of thought I gave to it. 4 packs a day to nothin... was seriously concerned i'd stroke out or something... but nothing... too strange, IMO
