Oh I was at that when the ships were in Waterford Harbour in Ireland, I went on board a few of them, including the US Navy Tall Ship they use for training, they were magnificent, there was a Russian sailing ship I remember, it was enourmous!

When some of them sail into the Delaware River, they have to be escorted sometimes up the river to Penn's Landing on the city's edge. And even sometimes, they are so tall that they have to really watch when they are sailing under the bridge. High tide/low tide, have to really navigate them.

Wow Chezzie wezzie, don't miss it !! I remember years ago, watching the start of the Tall Ships race from the cliffs overlooking Torbay in 19 ** !!! It is so good to see that Etoile is still sailing, there was both Etoile and La Belle Poule (her sister ship) sailing at Torbay, also Amerigo Vespucci a very spectacular huge ship with black and white hull, by far the largest of the Tall Ships to be taking part then - what has happened to her I wonder? I also remember Sorlandet from Norway, a beautiful white ship, it is good to see her still going strong. Goodness is it really over 40 years ago - I was a wee young thing then!!

:lips: ;) :D
