Getting Back To Reality.

the white witch advised me to ... "get back to reality dude" ... so today i went to lunch with random family and friends ...
there were quite a few women and i was reminded of lord byron's words ... "a woman should never be seen eating or drinking ... unless it be lobster and champagne" ... which got me thinking about food ... well we were having lunch ...helloooo! ...
i really bemoan the fact that the good old fashioned dinner party seems to have faded into oblivion ... at least in the circles i move in ... i can think of nothing more interesting and exciting than sitting down at a Victorian mahogany dining table ... seated on bustle back chairs with eight or ten dinner guests and spending maybe four or even five hours eating well prepared food ... and drinking a different wine with every course .... oh my!
having guests ... family ... friends who have time to spare ... who have left their cell/mobile phones in their cars and who can talk about ballet ... opera ... literature ... classical music and similar topics instead of who got kicked out of big brother and american idols!
my late mother ... whom i fondly and with great love refer to as my four seven eleven mom ... due to the perfume she used ... was a fantastic piano player ... she never had a lesson in her life and could not read a note of music ... but man could she play! if you could whistle a tune ... she's play it on the piano!
we used to often ... like friday and saturday night have people over at our house to either play cards or dance ... lola ... my mom ... was always asked to play the piano at about midnight when everyone was slightly tipsy ... and oh did we dance and did we sing! sigh ...
getting back to the white witch and reality though ... last week ... actually last sunday i took melanie .. my youngest sister and her brood out for the day ... we went to a sort of beachfront entertainment centre called "the boardwalk" ...
they have ten pin bowling and a fun fair and miniature golf and stuff like that ... we took the kids to a place where they can climb and jump and run and stuff and when we were leaving ... they have this like special doorway to protect the kids ... dunno what you call it but its like when you go into a bank ... and you walk thru a door and it closes and you wait for the green light ??
there was this beautiful little girl .. she was about four years old ... and she was obviously disabled ... she was in a kind of walker thing ... and it tore my heart out to see such a young child like that ...
her parents who were with her let her do her own thing ... and did not once try to help her even though it must have been breaking their hearts ... my sister's kids happened to know the family and said that the girl had muscular dystrophy ¦
what’s that saying? I cried cos I didn’t have shoes until I saw a child without legs ¦
