I dont know what a g mail acct is but I have some fishing tips......no wait, I dont fish. Never mind.

It's all good stuff, it's all free, it's as permanent as anything can be on the Internet. They've done a great job. Using the Google-services like Gmail has no more risks than using a computer in the first place. So long as you're not a criminal it's a neat place to get things done.
Is it something more specific bothering you?
