Actually yes I have, it was a queen size air bed that had two simulated sections. It had like a 15" high simulated box section, & then on top of that, a 15" high simulated matress section. (30" high total, with 5" diameter tubelike floor stabilizers on each side, for the entire matress length) It had it's own built in electric blow up motor, that inflated it within 2 to 3 minutes, depending on desired firmness. The first time it was inflated, it was over inflated & it was too hard & very uncomfortable. Then released some air out of it, & set it to a softer setting. And walla, it was extremely comfortable. Especially for sore backs. It actually felt a lot like being on a water bed! (Which I like) So if you don't like water beds, then most likely you won't like air beds either.

Just last night as a matter of fact, when I stayed at my daughter's home for the night. I like them-------it was a King Size blowup and you can adjust the firmness to suit. I wouldn't like it if I would have had to blow it up by mouth, but the automatic inflation is pretty neat.

We have a queen size blow up we use when we have visitors and I love it better than my own bed

"AERO BEDS" are truly the only reallllllly good air bed. They come with everything and the new ones stand about 2 feet high and are easy to blow up and sleep on. Looks just like a regular bed.

We were loaned one and didn't discover the "leak" till we were practically on the floor:wah:, but that can be beat with the place we stayed in once and the entire room was lopsided:wah:

A couple of Australians I rented to had self inflating beds for their travels. I thought it was brilliant to have a bed you could take on a plane.

My parents use one for guests now as they often have all the extended family over at once. I don't mind it at all and I have a pretty sensitive back. Futons are worse.

You might have had an inferior quality inflatable bed, Buttercup. I have one and I've used it...it wasn't as great as my bed for sure, but it sure beat the couch or a cot.

I'll take a Air Bed over a Water Bed any time.

yes i do have one, i have slept on it many times, its not as comfortable as a real bed but i like it sometimes on the weekends to put in the den and stay up late watching tv, its better than the couch!:D

It sure beats sleeping on hard ground though - take this from one who's camped out often amongst purists who like things au naturel (read: pretty rough).. You select the ground carefully, but every tree in the forest sprouts a root right under your back during the night, and acorns and stone creep into the scenario with gleeful hootings. (Maybe that's the owls).

the only problem is if it springs a leak! the one i used to have did that and i found myself flat on the floor by the next morning!:wah::wah::wah:

Camping in the bush .......nothing like it .

well our caravan (tourer) is a 4 birth with 2 bunk beds and a double bed. The kids have out grown the bunks so they are now set as two seats and a table. We go away in Aug for 2 weeks to Cornwall. The kids are having the double bed and me and hubs will sleep in the awning, we have bought an inner tent and blow up bed...Will be the first time trying it out...Could be fun!!:D:D

I would have to say pull out sofa's are far worse. We used to have to sleep on the thing sideways as your back would be messed up the next day.
