Any positive thoughts and positive energy you guys have out there i could use please!

It would be really great if it would rain around here, so i could quit irrigating this tobacco! :(

In a little over an hour, midnight my time, i've got to go down in the dark, by myself, to a snake infested pond and turn off the irrigation motor!

frankly i'm a little nervous! :-3

and my mom the caring soul that she is, just called me a few minutes ago, to tell me that she heard on the news where a bear jumped out of the woods and attacked somebody for no apparant reason!

thank you very much mom! :-5

anyway any moral support you guys have for me would be great! :-6

My thought is it will be daylight in a few hours wait till then. I wouldn't go to a snake infested pond in the dark every especially alone. What if something happens and your out there till morning and your baby is in the house alone. A few hours won't hurt in my opinion, but then again I know nothing about farming.

Can you drive down??

well i'm carrying the baby to mom's so he'll be alright.

the motor can't run until daylight because that would put to much water in the same field, and it probably doesn't have enough gas to do that anyway, and if it cuts off and just sits there without someone turning the key off, it's gonna run the battery down.

unfortunatly the irrigation pipe are blocking the path so that i can only drive a certain amount of the way, i'll have to walk the rest of it! :(

For tonight, find the breaker panel and just turn off the breaker. ;)

:wah::wah: i wish i could turn it off from a safer location, but it's a truck motor made into an irrigation motor, it's not electric, it runs on gas. :wah::wah:

Batteries are cheap let it run down that will stop the water. Sorry I see no reason for you to have to do this tonight for any reason to dangerous. Call your husband he can come and do it. I know your tough but sometimes if it doesn't feel safe it isn't.

unfortunatly husband works nights, he's about 30 miles away at the moment.

and the problem with letting it stop on it's own is that the pipe are blocking someone elses driveway, i have to take some of it apart before they can get out!

i have done it before but not alone, my mom usually goes with me but i would rather she keep the baby at home instead of all of us trying to go!

Well then wear high boots take a stick or gun, or knife and a huge flash light. Can your mom and the baby go in the car with you at least so someone is somewhat close by if you need help?

Just do it as quickly and safely as you can. I always hated having to go out and reverse sprinklers in the middle of the night, so I can sympathize with you.

thanks you guys! :-4

any positive energy and thoughts y'all can send my way, and prayers to if you are a person who prays, would be great, so maybe it will rain and i won't have to do that again!

but it's my knothead of a cousins fault that i had to do it this time! he lives here on the farm too but in another house, and he has all kinds of livestock to feed at night, and for some reason he can't do it any earlier! he always gets through around 8 o'clock and you usually run the irrigation system 4 hours at a time so that put it to midnight! we usually run the system in the daytime but this worked out to having to be run at night!

we grew up together and he's like my big brother but i can't help it, the guys a knothead sometimes! :(

God I was rivotted through this thread...Was like reading a thriller, the suspense was fab and I breathed a sigh of relief that you returned safe and sound:-4

Your braver than I Hope, Im a complete wuss, hell I dont even like closing our conservatory door after 10pm incase a moth or daddy long leg attack me to within an inch of my life...Im petrified of creepy crawlies so snake infested pond would of been a no no. We have a 12ft bestaway pool in the garden which got a hole in the rim bit so we decided to run a hose from it and drain it and throw it out, the water hasnt all drained and its gone green and hubby asked if me and the kids could lift the pool to drain the last of it:-3:-2 No bloody chance, might be worms and woodlice under it....Im a wuss and Im proud hah hah...Need any help on the farm:D

I hope you get lots of rain Hope.:-6

I know what it is like to be in drought & turning motors on & off in the middle of the night so we could water our sheep & cattle.

Been there.

I had some great news today so maybe I am on a roll ,so I will wish you some rain.

As long as you share with the Aussie farmers when you are finished. :wah::-4:-6

Ok, if I could have been there with you I would so you wouldn't have to do it alone.

As for your mom, if she is talking about the boy in the Smokys.....it wasn't for no apparent reason. They went hiking just after eating fried chicken and he had the crumbs and grease all over his shirt. One of the first NO-NO's they warn you about when visiting the Smokys.
