teach your kids to learn how to drive? Do you have enough patience, a calming temprement, the expertese, actual time, etc?



Or, will you send them off to learn how to drive at a driving school?





(I'm proud to say, I taught all of my kids to drive, & none of them ever got a ticket, & or more important, never had an accident!)

You have to go to driving school in Maryland, in order to get a license under 18. But when they had the permit in hand, I took over the instruction.

:wah: I learned to drive with the same driving instructor who was teaching my grandmother! He tattled everything to her-oh, poor JAB!

Its not allowed here only qualified registerd driving instructors may teach student drivers.

BTW its hellishly expensive!

Yes, as it turned out, we found out that the Insurance rates here were appreciably lowered if actual registered driving classes were taken by the student drivers.:-2 So, after months of my instructing the kids, they took official lessions to be able to get lower insurance rates!

All of my girls did drivers ed at school. Then I got them. The oldest at 24 has never had a ticket or accident, the middle I gave to my hubby cuz she was always acting like a Oops! giggle giggle type and I didn't have the patience for that. My youngest (16) will be getting her license in about a month and I let her drive everywhere, she refuses to drive with dad cuz he doesn't have as much patience as I do. She is an excellent driver, very aware, and a defensive driver like me. I know she'll do great out on her own driving. :-4

At 44 I've never had a ticket or an accident.

when my daughter was 15. i took her out a few times, needed a STIFF DRINK when we got back home. Thank God for DRVERS ED.:wah:

I taught my youngest daughter (and her friends) from thirteen onwards - Rachael then went to an off road instructor at sixteen and passed her test soon after her seventeenth birthday.

Today, she's a safe and reassuring driver I'm happy to let my grandkids loose with - as are their various mothers.

You are very good fuzzy! I can drive about anything too. My favorite was a V12 Dodge Viper...6 gears but hardly need to use anything past 4. I could drop that thing down to 2nd going 90 and it would still squeal the tires without coming close to redlining. I took hubby out for a drive and freaked him out a little bit doing 150mph across a downtown bridge. :wah::wah::wah:

If you love speed, you'll love it. I only had the chance to get it up to 200mph in the country, but it was raining and I was afraid to take it any faster. :driving:
