We have a JVC c251 remote, and my husband pushed some buttons while I was out. Most of the cable channels are not working, but show a static screen. Is there anyway to cancel this, since I do not know what he did.

Did you try entering the menu options ?

Yes, in the menu, on the channel summary, there are checks up until station 29 or 30, everything after that has no check, and I assume that is why they do not play anymore. How would I fix that? Do I need to put checks on them, and if so, how do I do that?
The TV guide station shows, and like 5 other cable stations.

sounds like your tv isn't on cable anymore out here our tv has to be on channel 3 for the cable to work. then the remote put on cable as well. then go to the menu and run the auto channel on you remote or tv.

Try an automatic scan of all the available channels.
It should run through all the numbers adding them.

Yes, I went in and put it from "air" to "cable."
It ran through hundreds of stations, and now works.
He watched me do it, I don't think I can fool him anymore and keep the Olympics on downstairs. He wants the remote back! :wah:
But he will watch TV tomorrow, when I am gone, and gets perplexed why it isn't working-and can not tell me. Now, if I only can keep my hands on the remote....

Universal remotes are pretty cheap, and you might be able to find one that limits choice, like for kids.

Sorry I came here to late to be of help to you, Chonsi. But now that the crisis is over, relax, and enjoy a little "remote control" humor.

:wah:That is funny, Along For the Ride. Thank you all for your advice. AC, I like that idea of a universal remote, then it will not happen again.
