Eating Habits of FG Members

Just for fun I have scrolled through the "What Are You Having for Dinner" posts to see what the members eating habits are. WOW!! Lots of junk food, lots of carbs, too much fast food, pizza, fish and chips, tacos. Every once in while someone will post a balanced meal with veggies or salad. Overall I would say that the eating habits are atrocious and would contribute to not only weight gain, but pre-diabetes and coronary artery disease, but then I'm no nutritionist. I wonder what the breakfast and lunches are like?:-3

:wah: I once kept a food diary in my journal Lon to see if i ate as healthily as i thought i did:sneaky: i think i eat not as healthily as i should, but more healthy than some people:confused: i do like veggies and fruit, fish. salad etc. but i also lke red meat, pasta curry etc. I dont however have a chip pan,, or deep fat fryer so thats a pretty good thing (especially for the north east of England).

By the way i had battered cod for tea tonight:o

I eat alot of the same foods I ate growing up. I try to make them a little healthier but, don't always succeed. Lunch at my house is something light, like a salad or sandwich.

when my hubby is home i cook everyday. all dinner meals include veggies. i will admit. when i am alone. it is EASIER to grab a burger. or taco. then to cook for one. i do have salads a lot. but sandwiches is usually the way i go.

So give us the rundown member by member... :wah:

I'm not among the worst... neither is Koan, we're both pretty much health nuts here, in that respect... we do splurge on occasion, but our diets are rather strict and perfectly balanced. I imagine that if either of us even consumed fast food now, that it would immediately make us nauseous.

I find that it's relatively easy to cook and prepare your own meals, and that's truly the only method of knowing what's really in the food that you are eating. I mean, does anyone else really know what are in the Colonel's eleven secret herbs and spices? (BTW, how many herbs and spices, actually compliment poultry, anyway?) Why do we feel the need to keep such secrets? :-3

breakfast: wheat free waffle and p-nut butter

lunch: diet cranberry juice, 2 rice cakes, string cheese

dinner: usually a chef salad, sometimes meat and cheese in it, a rice cake or two

Total caloric intake is pretty good, should be higher because I am active, 90+ minutes per day. All that food I cook on that thread is for my husband, and I watch his caloric intake very closer due to diabetes and thyroid issues.

So your hubby put you on a gluten-free diet, as well? :wah:

Koan just put me on a gluten-free diet about a month or so ago (essentially putting herself on the same diet, as I tend to do most of the cooking around here now)... she's not a qualified nutritionist, yet, but she's learning. I have noticed some improvement in my body after becoming gluten-free, however, and I've never really been diagnosed as having celiac disease, but I believe that most individuals do show signs of gluten sensitivities from time to time. So, brilliant call on her part in noticing that I may have had some issues with wheat, despite having no confirmed food allergies.

Yes G-man, a gluten free diet can help tremendously. Celiac runs in my family, the test actually came back negative for it, but if I eat wheat I will be sick for quite a few days. So it is safer to not eat the gluten, and I do not miss it too much, except for pizza. That I do miss.

My problem is keeping caloric intake up on certain days, bust days I drop a pound a day. Then I resort to eating some candy or something not very good for me, but the weight loss will stop. I try to keep it stable now, I don't really need to loose weight.

Ah, I've got an EXCELLENT recipe for a pizza crust based on chickpea and rice flour! We just made a pizza out of it last weekend and it was delicious!
