WOW....that would be interesting!

I remember:

5th grade, Mrs. Hammond...taught us what a blow job was

6th grade, Mr. Rhinehart....got fired mid-year and we STILL don't know why

7th grade, Mr. Andrews....math teacher who was obsessed with me....skerred me actually....

8th grade, Mr. Pond....English teacher who was AWESOME, he really cared about his students!

9th......blank

10th.......blank

11th........you guessed it

12th........................ha, was I even there?

In elementary school we had a principle that we called George Jetson, can't remember his real name....I do remember Mr. Storm though, he was the vice principle and he ended up having an affair with the school secretary and by the time we were in high school, they were married and having a baby of their own....

Miss Vial, grade 7. She was a parapalegic, and never missed a beat. She wheeled us all over town on field trips, was a talented artist who painted many oil paintings for each of her students. She painted my kitty Fa Ying, it is a prized picture I still have hanging today. She taught me many things, but she taught me that nothing will ever stop you, no matter what is given to you in life. It is why I can keep going today, because she instilled in me persistance to continue, to the best of my ability. She would have been happy to know I became a teacher, and I would wish to be as good a one as she was to all of us. :-4

I remember all mine, from grade 3 upwards. Some with great affection, some without affection but with great respect, some without a lot of either but now with amusement. As a whole they were an interesting and inspiring bunch - and I know I learned a lot from all of them.

As a senior student I also made quite a bit of money out of supplying photos and info to other students who had crushes on particular teachers. I was basically bad, through and through (unlike now when I'm angelic :sneaky:) It was a hoot.

My fifth grade teacher lived down the street from me. She taught us how to knit. Everyday after lunch she would read us a story while we knitted.

She read us "Charlottes Web" and there was a girl in my class named Charlotte Webb!

Everytime we got a new pet, the kids on the street would take it to her to show her our new pet and she would make such a show of it, telling us how to take care of it and love it. We thought she knew everything!

I loved her! :-4

JAB;965577 wrote: I can remember most of their names but more easily remember what they looked like. About half of them I felt were really good, the rest so-so. My favorite teacher from high school had to go and screw up my good memories of him - he ended up getting sent to prison for molesting a teenage boy.

I remember some faces too and can't remember their names....that is a shame about the favorite teacher....I always wondered about the guy that got fired, because it was so hush hush!

I remembered another teacher, Mr. Baker, he was my 9th or 10th grade science teacher, and he was adorable, along with the other coach who LOVED me, and I can't remember his name now.... I helped them set stuff up for class and they loved to pick on me....the one coach called me "Wendall"....I have pictures of him somewhere.....he was really cool....

And I also remembered Mr. McIntosh, was 10th grade History, with a monotone voice, he was the reason I was well rested during the day, his class was my nap time!!

I remember Miss Hurrel in class three, she was evil, slapped you over the hand with a ruler for the slightest thing, we were only little! :-3

Miss Thomas in the next class, she was lovely, I lived in the same street as my first school and years after I left would always wave and say hello to Miss Thomas as she left for home.

Mrs Maddern was next, she tried desperatley to teach me to play guitar but struggled as I was left handed. I often see her now in the library or a local cafe we both frequent, she's very proud of me going to be going to uni, she guessed the subject I would be doing too!

Had some guy in the next class it may have been Mr Mann, don't remember much about that year at all.

Final year at primary was with Mr Trevorrow, he was a great teacher, all the girls loved him. We had a great week at the Lizard in our final year staying in a youth hostel, it was great to see the teachers as more themselves and relaxed. Up until last year he was my childrens head teacher at their school, still a great teacher and head and sadly missed by all the parents and children.

The head at primary school was Miss Stevens, she was another lovely lady, who was very quiet but she comanded such respect, I guess this lady was one of my first role models. She was a busy lady that always had time for everyone from an upset pupil to an irate mother, you never heard her raise her voice either, she just gave you 'the look' :wah:

Secondary school is a bit more hazy, I'll try to remember...

Secondary school hehehe that was the fun years, its true when your parents say its the best years of your life. :-6

I remember our school being on two sites just the 1st, 2nd and some 5th years on the lower site. Mr **** was the head of the site and we were all petrified of him. He walked the corridors with his cane in his hand and he had metal heels on his highly polished brown brogues. You heard the tap tap tap tap and you ran! :wah:

I remember geography with Miss Stubbings, she wore curtains, ie the most horrific dresses you can imagine with huge bold floral prints on them. One day in our lesson with her my friend at the front of the class used her ruler to flick a huge piece of orange peel at me, so i returned the compliment, only it landed on Miss Stubbing’s desk, on the register, just as she was calling it. Not good, I got sent to stand outside the door. :(

I got moved up a set for maths lessons, I needed to be in a higher set for English but because of the timetabling maths and English were banded together, I only got to go to one lesson with Mrs Lugg bless her, she turfed me out as a trouble maker! I didn’t do a thing, my mate the orange peel one again, was looking out the window, airplanes could be heard in the distance, she suddenly shouted ‘Quick, everyone get under the tables, we’re going to be bombed’ so we all got under the tables and the teacher just stood at the front going bananas, no one would come out from under the desks and I was the one laughing the loudest, a teacher came in from next door and got us all out but I couldn’t stop laughing. So that was my one and only lesson with Mrs Lugg, she left shortly afterwards, had a nervous breakdown. :o

Miss Cattley the French teacher, she was French and spoke with a funny accent that we all teased her about. She constantly had her finger in front of her mouth saying ‘sshhhhh’, it never worked and the whole class spent the whole lesson mimicking her. She was famous for disappearing into her supplies cupboard, she used to bribe us with sweets to keep us quiet and to get us to work. I lost count of how many times we locked her in that cupboard! :lips:

I attended an all girls' school in the 60s and, surprisingly, half of the teachers were male.

Our history master, Mr L, was an Australian, tall with dark curly hair. A lot of the girls fancied him. I didn't because he lived a few houses away from us and he would often ask me to babysit for his two boys. His wife was a sculptress and she had sculpted a life size model of him, with every last detail. It stood on the landing and every time I went upstairs to check the children, I would have to walk past "Mr L." :o

Our Spanish teacher, Mr H, used to slouch behind his desk as he taught. And when the sun came through the windows, it would cast a shadow of him on the blackboard behind. And because of the way it projected his image, it made his nose look longer than Pinnochio's. My best friend and I who always used to sit at the front as a cunning plan to avoid getting picked on because we looked keen to learn, would start giggling. But our plan backfired when we were crying with laughter, and couldn't tell Mr H why.

I hated elementary as the nuns would smack us around. I loved high school and remember all of my teachers. Dr. Guterl, our principal, was soooo strict. He made me take the bus home one day to change my short skirt and wash off all of my eye makeup:-6. My loving teachers were Mrs. Bogatash who was fired because she was pregnant...even thought she was married, my science teacher Mr.Leeman, My Spanish and French teachers, Mrs. Colanari and Mrs. O'Sullivan and Mr. Pettinado my counselor.

Mr. Spina changed my life around...I was a wacka doodle at this age. My friend and I were skipping down the hallway singing "Mr. Spina, Mr. Spina...he's a silly jelly benna." Well, we didn't know he was behind us, gave us a months detention after school and put us in his Social Studies class the next year. That was the best year of my life in his class. He was so funny, smart and loving. In my yearbook he wrote, "To my friend Kathy, a wonderful girl who never stopped trying. I will miss you very much." Those simple words meant so much to me.

First Grade - Miss Liella Middleton. She taught all five of us in first grade; probably still there. Her sister taught 3rd grade but I didn't have her. They lived together with their step-mother in a big house in town. I remember they would always make us take our halloween masks off before giving us candy. I hated them.

Fourth Grade - Ms Blinks. My parents were going through divorce and I was acting out big time. Once, instead of a paddling, she took me outside and asked me what's wrong. That single one-minute act is probably the biggest influence on how I treat my students.

I don't remember any others.

Miss Williams at primary school who I loved but she gave my younger brother nightmares, she was a cow to him.

Mr Goffart the head, far too laid back and easy going - we didn't learn much in his class, he went to Canada for a year and his replacement came out of retirement and fell asleep every afternoon in class - we loved her!

At secondary school I remember -

Mr Alford, he sadly died in a car crash, he was a great teacher and a really nice man.

Mr Jackson, proper old school history teacher, we all loved him and treated him with huge respect.

Mr Herries, history teacher who had a red stain on his breast pocket of his jacket that looked like he'd been shot. Taught me just one year when I was 11 and remembered my name for many years later - amazing man.

Mr ? - can't remember his name but remember his ginger hair and beard and the green velvet suit and matching man-bag - I know it was the 70's but really....!!

Mr Adams, english teacher who inspired me so much I did much better than predicted - later tried to kill his wife and was imprisoned.

Mr Uglow - gippy Gerry, liked to bully the girls until the point of tears and throw the blackboard rubber at the boys heads.
