Red Glitter - My sister brought home a small kitten one day when we were both teenagers. We couldn't at first tell its colour as someone had dumped it in a barrel of tar!!!!!!!!!!! A vet would probably have put it down, but we were too inexperienced to even know where to find one. We took the sad little bundle home, cut off its fur with scissors, wrapped its tiny body in a warm teatowel, and fed it milk laced with brandy from a teaspoon (you can see how clueless we were from that). Tammy not only survived. She thrived. Turned into a beautiful creature - something between brown and tortoise shell - and had a long happy cat life, in the company of our other feline, Samantha - both now in cat heaven. I remember them fondly.

My daughter gave me a slightly feral ginger kitten.

Never seen a human before by the look of things:wah:

I fed & loved it,first ime I let it outside it went to the nextdoor neighbours.

They have an older cat.

The ginger one moved in with them but still comes for a visit & sits on my lap on Sundays when I read the papers on the side verandah.:-4:-6

Our grandson loves him.

In the old Catholic heirarchy of sins - apathy came right in the middle. Between the great sins of the spirit - Pride, Envy, Anger and the lesser sins of the body - Lust, Gluttony, Greed. Sloth/apathy was doing nothing when something should be done. I have deep problems with organised religion of all kinds, but this particular bit is, in my opinion, spot on.

My first cat got run over by a car and my brother found a grey kitten down in some dumpy ally in Philly and brought him home. I thought my parents were gonna get rid of him as he had really bad diarrhea and kept barfing for 3 days straight. Good thing it was a holiday weekend. Chancellor was with us for almost 15 years. My dad would let him sit on his blueprints because they were warm and they even bought a little headstone for him when he passed on and he's currently buried in my parent's backyard.:-4

The thing is if you stop to pick the kitten up it's owner could be around somewhere and they could think 'he's trying to steal my kitten' so you really can't win no matter what you do.

^^If the kitten's owner was around and let that sweet little creature get like that he/she deserved someone to take it away from them!! I almost cried looking at that picture.

I have many a stories of animals that were rescued by my family, we used to joke that there was a invisible sign to humans that only animals could see that said "-->>> this way to a loving family that will spoil you"

One snowy evening my brother and his friend brought home a little gray kitten, (russian blue)they found along side a busy road...and she had her tail chopped off and it was freezing....my father said "NO, we have enough animals" and tossed the kitty out in the driveway in the snow....My brother and I wouldn't have this (I was about 11 and brother about 16 or so) We snuck the kitty in my bedroom window and kept the kitty a secret until the next morning when my father discovered the kitten in my brother's bed. He sighed a big sigh and said "we'll find her a good home"....and that we did....15 years later she died of old age and beside my dad's bed which is where she spent a lot of time, since in fact...she was HIS kitty!:-4:-4
