I was chatting to a friend, telling her i was going to buy a couple of wigs as some days well i just like the idea of a change. Ive had every colour & every cut over the years & i'd now would like to give my own hair a rest. A few wigs in various shades, styles sounded ideal to me. She was horrified :wah:

Why are people so horrified at the thought of wearing a wig?

I bought a wig when I was hairless from medical treatments.

Bloody thing itched like hell,:wah:I threw it in the cupboard & just went hair free;)

I sell em.....

id wear one for fun, a piece probably more than a whole wig but I dont have any desire to do so at the moment.

My sister and I went through a "wig" stage in our late teens. For fun and a change. As long as it is a quality piece and is comfortable, it should be all right.

I think for fun its a great idea, but they are extremely hot to wear.

Wigs as a fun thing is fine but funnily enough when I was ill and my hair started to fall out I knew that I would not wear a wig.

I didn't want the nudging and sideways glances that I see other people getting to be directed at me.

BTW I find men with wigs a big big turn off, comb overs ditto, bald men I have no problem with at all in fact some men look quite sexy without hair!

People change what they're wearing when they go to parties, surely. Wigs are style statements among other things. One can only tie a bow round it so often, after that one needs alternatives.

I wasn't talking about the wigs that go on your head, but the other type you mentioned.

Here where I live they have a program to supply children going through cancer treatment which causes hair loss with real hair wigs. You can go into any beauty salon and if your hair is chemical free and healthy, they will cut your hair for free and donate your hair to this cause. It's called "locks for love" and I have seen even small children donate their hair for this wonderful program. I am still getting up the nerve to do it since my hair is now grown past my waist but what the heck, if I could cut my hair for this and make a child happy, shame on me for not calling and making an appointment

I have such baby fine hair and so little of it that probably within 10 years I will be wearing wigs..

I'm thinking Cher - the early years...:p

Don't be too hard on yourself PJ...I've thought about this and looked into it more than once, but my hair is now past the butt(over 3ft) and it's really hard to think about losing some of it. I know it's selfish of me, it's just trying to take that first step which is really scary.
