Thursday it will be 7 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon!

My thoughts and prayers are with all the familes who lost loved ones in those attacks as they go through this week which will no doubt stir up many memories!

Thanks Hope, I remember I was glued to the TV in shock and disbelief, watching these horrors going on...yet still not being able to turn away. That was that day that changed every Americans life.

God bless those innocent lives taken and all those that were left behind.

The Call

Dedicated to all the American heroes of 9/11,

of history, of today and of tomorrow.

In the time of crisis and trouble, one of our first thoughts is, "Where can I get someone to help me?" One of the genuine blessings of this great country of ours is the fact that we do have emergency and military professionals who are dedicated and committed to public safety and national defense. Sadly, this high and special calling sometimes requires the ultimate sacrifice of health and even life itself. Too often these heroic efforts occur in the absence of expressions of gratitude from those who are being served.

The alarm call rings out on a dreadful day.

"Look up at the horror and come right away!

The need is so great, lives hang on the edge."

"We offer ourselves," is their sworn pledge.

Sirens sound out as heroes swing into action.

Though peril abounds, there is no retraction.

Reaching out for others and giving their hand,

They stand in the gap and die where they stand.

They rush in to rescue while others rush out.

The pathway of safety so rarely their route.

Danger rides with them each and every day.

"The security of others first," is what they say.

It does not take long for our heroes to die,

Leaving many loved ones who wonder why.

Speak up you patriots. Speak up and shout!

Sacrifice and courage are what it's all about.

Stand up thankful citizens of this nation great.

Give honor to all who have entered God's gate.

To those who continue in faithful service today,

When you next greet them, what will you say?

"...In their lives and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions. How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle!" (II Samuel 1:23,25)

it is now Thursday, September 11, my time.

a time to remember those who died, a time to remember the hero's who never thought twice about helping, fireman, EMS, police, etc. etc. etc.

a time to remember our hero's in flight 53 who took over the plane so it would crash in a field instead of the White House...........all the while knowing they would perish.

a time to remember the devastion, the hurt, the pain, the unexpected.

a time to remember their loved ones and what they must have suffered.

god bless everyone who suffered that day.

god bless my neighbours!

I was at the hospital getting some minor surgery that morning and saw the 2nd plane hit. We were all (doctors & nurses, etc) standing there in shock. Needless to say since I'm in PA, hubby pulled the kids out of school because nobody knew at that point where the 4th plane was. They did know it was somewhere over PA.

Quin was just an infant and John barefly remembers it. I just know the sky was quiet for a week except for the milatary jets. My kids were little and when the news was constantly on tv 24/7, we had to turn it off because they just did not understand what was going on. I remember just playing lots of board games and focusing on their homework and other things.

Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)" - Alan Jackson

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day

Out in the yard with your wife and children

Working on some stage in LA

Did you stand there in shock at the site of

That black smoke rising against that blue sky

Did you shout out in anger

In fear for your neighbor

Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children

Who lost their dear loved ones

And pray for the ones who don't know

Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble

And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride

For the red white and blue

The heroes who died just doing what they do

Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer

And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs

I'm not a real political man

I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you

The difference in Iraq and Iran

But I know Jesus and I talk to God

And I remember this from when I was young

Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us

And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day

Teaching a class full of innocent children

Driving down some cold interstate

Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor

In a crowded room did you feel alone

Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her

Did you dust off that bible at home

Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened

Close your eyes and not go to sleep

Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages

Speak with some stranger on the street

Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow

Go out and buy you a gun

Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching

And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns

Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger

Stand in line and give your own blood

Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family

Thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs

I'm not a real political man

I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you

The difference in Iraq and Iran

But I know Jesus and I talk to God

And I remember this from when I was young

Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us

I was at work. A wife of one of my employees called and told me that a plane had hit one of the towers. She was a bit frantic and asked if I thought it was an accident, terrorism or if our air control system was out of whack or went off line for some reason. I told her she better hope it was an accident or terrorism because if our air traffic control system went completely down there were a few thousand more airplanes that could run into about anything at any time.

Will never forget it. getting ready for work. i could not believe my eyes. my hubby was off shore. the rumors flew about bombing oil platforms. We kept the radio on all day. I worked in a daycare. the older children who understood were frightened. The younger ones could sense our fear. I will never forget the shock and the fear.

It was just gone 2 pm in Ireland, my wife phone me in a panic telling me that a plane had hit the world trade center. I got off the phone and walked out of my office to tell others, and it was creepy, suddenly all the phones started ringing in the office.

I will never forget that day as long as I live

I took my daughter up the towers a couple of weeks before. We still tremble. My girlfriend in Poughkeepsie called me during that terrible night - I thought it was a horror movie on the television. Two academics and their children on their way to where I worked were on the first plane. My best girlfriend's daughter who worked in Wall Street was sick that day, and lived. Everyone has a story. I was in New York the following year and went to Ground Zero to pay my respects. We stood in the snow. There were a lot of people just standing there. Silent. It was like being in a cathedral.

i was re decorating my house when my partner phoned and told me to put sky news on................... i saw the 2nd plane hit and could not believe what i was seeing...............

they are running programmes this week, telling the stories of the survivors.

last night was about the hotel at the base of the towers, the night before was about rick rescorla, who came from a little town about 15 miles form me.

tonight is about tania head, the 9/11 faker as the programme is entitled.

the heroism and bravery of all the emergency services in america have my utmost admiration.

my thoughts and prayers are with the families of the all the people concerned.

My best friend from school went to a convention that was held on a lower floor of one of the towers just a few days before it happened, i think it really shook her up thinking what if the timing had been different for her convention, she could have been there that day!

I was on a walk on a beautiful sunny morning here with my dear

sweet Tamsen when a young man on a bicycle rode by us, stopped a

little ways ahead and turned and asked "Have you seen any news this

morning?" and I said "I read a little bit of the newspaper, why?" and he

told me what had happened. I remember saying "You are kidding me!"

and then almost immediately saying "That's stupid, I'm sorry, of course

you aren't kidding me" and he was nice and told me it was okay, he

understood. I asked him "What is going on in this world?" and he just

shook his head and said he sure didn't know. I somehow wanted to hug

him, but I didn't and I've always been sorry I didn't. I never saw him again.

What was scariest for me and my family was that my little brother had

told us he was going on a business trip to the WTC "in early September"

and for hours that day, I didn't know where he was. He finally called me

from San Francisco that afternoon, all of the high-rise office buildings

were being evacuated.

Here is a list (the best I can find) of the SAR dogs that served there

and are now in heaven:
