My little one wants to join but I'm skeptical. Did the girl scouts for just the first few years of their schooling, my daughter's. I'm just not keen on him joining a group that discrimates against gays. The girl scouts have no problems concerning this area that I know of.

I'm trying to teach Quin to not be biased against the world. I want him to be open to other people in the world who are different to/from him. Your comments and opinions are welcome here.

Boy Scouts is a wonderful organization that teaches tools to live life with. You won't find a shred of the hate in the organization that is unfairly spewed against it by others.

I think it'd be a shame to deny him the benefits of scouthood because all their beliefs didn't match up with yours or his. In an ideal world maybe...but you could let him join and then have a talk with him about it expressing your beliefs and what you would like for him to know.
If I can make a comparison, it's like me and Peta, the animal group. I don't like everything they stand for but I'm still a member because they've done far too much good to deny them over the few things of theirs I go against.

Ok folks. It's a little local cub troup, but in my mind I think it would be good for him. He's just 7 yr old. Jeez, I feel link I've through the ringer here friends:wah: This is what I love about the FG, see different points of view.

Joining Scouts is way more than what any parent can teach their own child.
it's unity - competition - exploring - expressing himself - testing himself - being himself - and on and on..
the benefits from this unity and the satisfaction of his own achievements
cannot be taught at home.
I saw YES
and support his efforts & achievements along the way..
I always remember my brothers SOAP BOX DERBY
where they had to widdle wood into the shape of a car for a up and coming contest.
alot of fun

In some countries there's an organization that doesn't discriminate on the grounds of sex, called Scouts. I'm quite in favour of those, all my children went to Scouts, learned a lot and enjoyed the time they spent there.

Hey Ducky,
I think that all scouts groups are fabulous for our kidlets.
