The most wonderful late summer day

It started with a walk... the place where Sierra and I walk goes out by

some really large fields, it's "country" just a couple of blocks from my

house... and most every morning we've been seeing Canada geese out

in the field (there is a resident population, they aren't migrating) but

usually too far away to see much. Some mornings I've brought binocs

but usually don't bother. Well, this particular morning for some reason

the geese were in the part of the field right next to the road, so I

really had an eyeful. I stopped and counted, and there were 114 geese.

It was sooooo cool. But then, as we stood there, another flock came

flying in (honking all the while) and landed, 25 in that flock, so I got

to watch 139 geese for quite a long time. I imagine Sierra was pretty

bored so I didn't stay too long, but it was one of the neatest things I've

seen in a very long time.

Then, on the way back from a grocery store trip, I passed by a

blackberry patch that earlier in the year had a ton of blooms on it, so I

decided to do a quick check... I found the blackberry Mother Lode!

Drove home, got my baskets, and spent about an hour picking and got

probably around 2 1/2 pounds of blackberries. I made a pie, and had

very sinful blackberry pancakes for breakfast. I love blackberries!

How wonderful, it's at times like that you wished you'd brought a camera.

Blackberry bushes have long since dried up here unfortunately, memories of blackberrying when I was a kid just sprang to mind, coming home with a blue face and an achey tummy.:-6

(sigh) I miss going for long country walks with the dogs, with charlies arthritis and raspberrys poorly back we can only do teeny steps. :-1

Ahhhhhh Val:-4 You're a girl after my own heart....I love to watch the Canada geese and swans in my Barnegat Bay. I also love blackberries. I had a lovely vine on my old property that was filled with tons of berries. My sil would just sit there and eat all of them:p

Sounds like you and Sierra had a lovely and special day together.....nice
