There is no doubt that there are many racists in the U.S. that will not vote Obama because he is black but I see this being entirely offset by the number of African Americans voting for the first time as well as the first time youth vote that seems to predominately favor Obama.

What do you think?

I haven't seen any real stats on this, but I do believe you may be right. I live in a college town and all around campus you see signs supporting Obama hardly nothing for McCain.

Daughter has just registered to vote for the first time and is going with Obama as all her friends are too.

to me, and I really have no rights to be here, living in Canada and because I have no idea who is best suited....... do not care what race the person is...........as long as he/she does the job right.

Actually Lon, I think it will be the black vote that negate racist white votes. In my opinion it is reverse racism because so many blacks are voting for Obama just because he is black. Why is it only called racism if it's something the whites do? Me personally couldn't care less what color the skin is on a person, but Obama is just to left wing liberal for me.

I think you should have reworded the question.

Some 80% of Black Americans say they support Obama and about 45% say they will vote for him primarily because he is Black which is as illogical as not voting for him because he is Black, understandable, but illogical. Isn't that about the same as saying they will not vote for McCain because he is white?

Because his message sounds so populist and uplifting and it is so easy to ignore the real world that will slap whomever is President right upside the head?

I wonder if the Obama supporters really and truly believe that he will do all he is promising (either candidate for that matter). The numbers don't add up, the reality does not work, there is a little thing call Congress and there is no way to pay for most of his promises, especially now.

Ask you daughter and her friends what they are prepared to give up in the future to make the Obama dream come true.

The same holds true for McCain, just not so awash with populism and pandering.

Don't know, but I do know that if I was black, I would vote for Obama no matter what his qualifications. To me, it's completely understandable why a black would vote for Obama.

Maybe you could start writing to Obama sweetie:sneaky:.... if nothing else it will give us the opportunity to see you on the evening news... well, unless they cover your head with one of those canvas jackets sheriffs deputies always seem to have handy...or unless you can get Quinn to convince them that you are more dangerous behind bars then you would be in a padded room...
