Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month!

My thoughts and prayers are with anyone who has been or is going through this battle!

I heard this song the other day and it really touched me, so this is for you! :-4

Tough

by Craig Morgan

She’s in the kitchen at the crack of dawn

Bacon’s on, coffee’s strong

Kids running wild, taking off their clothes

If she’s a nervous wreck, well it never shows

Takes one to football and one to dance

Hits the Y for aerobics class

Drops by the bank, stops at the store

Has on a smile when I walk through the door

The last to go to bed, she’ll be the first one up

And I thought I was tough

Chorus:

She’s strong, pushes on, can’t slow her down

She can take anything life dishes out

There was a time

Back before she was mine

When I thought I was tough

We sat there five years ago

The doctors let us know the tests showed

She’d have to fight to live, I broke down and cried

She held me and said it’s gonna be alright

She wore that wig to church

Pink ribbon pinned there on her shirt

No room for fear, full of faith

Hands held high, singing Amazing Grace

Never once complained, refusing to give up

And I thought I was tough

Chorus:

She’s strong, pushes on, can’t slow her down

She can take anything life dishes out

There was a time

Back before she was mine

When I thought I was tough

She’s a gentle word, the sweetest kiss

A velvet touch against my skin

I’ve seen her cry I’ve seen her break

But in my eyes she’ll always be strong

There was a time

Back before she was mine

When I thought I was tough

She said exactly what my sister said in her last months. Don't know weather to sit down, lie down, stand up etc.

Once my sisters breast cancer had spread to her liver, i think she knew.

So cruel, she had three kids who had just starting having kids of their own.

A year before she died at 50 she booked a holiday at "Minehead Butlins" for all the extended family. We took over one whole row of apartments. All she did was watch the kids in the family play, swim, dance, sing from her wheelchair.

She should never have made that holiday but she hung on for it. She got her last wish, seeing all the little one's playing together, laughing. My sister Valerie.

I hope Wendy makes it --- she's a National Treasure

You all may want to look around at this site.

The Breast Cancer Site/The Pink Ribbon Store

They sell all kinds of pink ribbon merchandise and part of the funds go to help pay for mammograms for needy women. I have bought from there several times and can vouch that it's a legit and good company. I think it's worth a look. :)

JAB;1010968 wrote: My mom and 3 sisters have all had cysts removed. Fortunately it was nothing more then that.

I've not been affected (yet?) and I make a point to have a mammogram every year right around my b-day. Easy way to remember that way.

I started having mine after i had Jacob at the suggestion of my doctor, they encourage every woman to start having them once they turn 40, i have an aunt who is terminaly ill with cancer right now that probably could have been caught in time to treat if she had just went to a doctor, but she was terrified of doctors and never went! so after seeing that i decided i'm going every year!

And may I suggest that everyone have scan as well as the mammogram.

Sometimes the mammo's are not as accurate as they should be.

Insist that you have a scan is my advice.

I just hate the wait ,for the results to come back.

As soon as the scans are handed to me I rip them open & read the Doc's report :sneaky:

Then I bring them home for my Doc to read.

I don't get the x-rays, they stay at my clinic, but I call my doctor for a verbal........she know how anxious I am, so she calls for me, rather than waiting until they get to her office.
