My first car was a 1959 Triumph Herald that I bought for £8.00 in 1971. Yes eight pounds not eighty. It was as the photo but in two tone yellow and white and I soon added a rear end modification by reversing into a concrete post

Love this thread!!!
This was my first pride & joy when I turned "16". It wasn't brand new, but to me it was!!!
(I could drive since I was 13-1/2, my dad taught me how on back roads, & parking lots, etc. Oh yeah, mine was all canary yellow, with a black rag top!)

Yes Odie, it was a great car, it gave me my independence at a very young age! I had to work after school for it, & it's upkeep, but it was worth it!

My first was one of these.
A friend of my dad was going to Japan for a few years, and this thing had a blown head gasket.
I bought it for fifty bucks, rebuilt the engine, the tried again, and finally yanked it out and replaced it with a Chevy 327.
It was definitely a cool ride.

Slightly larger than the original engine I'd guess and a lot of motor for a first car - how did you get on with her?

My first car was a bright yellow 1969 Camaro 307 Interceptor. At the time I was a lifeguard at the local country club. Summer 1978 - Fast cars, fast women, and unlimited alcohol.
Man... what a summer THAT was!!

It was cool. The "chicks" dug it, and I took advantage of that, a bit. Being somewhat nerdy, I needed all the help I could get.
The 327 was actually perfect for the weight of the thing. It was quite comfy on long drives, as well.
I sold it when I went into the military and never have had such a cool ride, since.
