A relative gives you a check for $1,000----------how would you spend it?

pay off some bills.

Put it in the bank. I want to do a research trip next summer, the travel costs will be about $3,000 I am thinking. It might take me two years to save up for it, but it will be a grand adventure.

I was quite fortunate & won some $ on the weekend.

It is in the bank, I will decide what to do with it closer to Xmas;)

None of my relatives could afford to give me $1,000. So, I would thank the relative for the thought but give the money back to them.

It's really bizzare. We all think what we would spend money on if we had it.

Two years ago, i had a fairly large lottery win. Once i had checked, re-checked etc, i still wouldn't believe it until i got the cheque cleared in the bank.

Then suddenly, i couldn't think of anything to spend it on...... life's strange eh

So, I would use this moola to buy a double sink for my kitchen and a new bathroom vanity,



OR winterize my little half bath on the back porch so I don't have to shut the damn water off every winter so the pipes don't freeze:-5



Or, I'd put it away for my summer holidays.

i would buy my relative a present then spend the rest on my foster children :-4:-4

A meal out with the children. They'd enjoy that, it must be a three years since they last went en masse.

finish our porch. screen it in. Then put the rest away for a rainy day,

save it for when the bills come in, again!:-5

well $1000 is about £500 here i think My husband would want to get new patio doors, i would want ot go on holiday:D

You say that Carrolly, it was surprising how many old friends contacted me at the time. That's when you know who your real friends are!!!!

When i first won the money, it just wouldn't sink in as i never won on the lottery. I have a knack for the horses but that's inside imfo-from my brother who's a bookie.

When i first got it, i kept thinking..Mustn't waste it...Mustn't waste it.

One thing i did do, was have all my flooring ripped up and had slate quarry tiles laid in every room. Three dogs and cats are a nightmare on floors as you know. It's a joy now...just a sweep and mop each day. very cold in winter though.

I'm planning some runs for a side yard we have that does'nt do anything. I can't make my mind up weather to take rescue cats again, something i had to give up when we moved to a smaller house, a bird avairy or small scale wild life rescue.

There's not enough fox rescue around here or hedgehog. We have to drive miles with them when we get them. Hubby doesn't like the idea of foxes cos their poo smells. Typical man!!:wah:

I'd rip out all the carpeting and put wood flooring in like we have in the living/dining room, replace the back door and fix up the deck. Yes, my house needs some TLC.

I would exchange it for Euro's that way it would be worth almost twice as much..

I would catch up on a couple of bills and save the rest for Christmas.

Id take my mum in law for a nice week-end break. Since hubs has set his own business up, she has doled out a fair bit of moola on us as a family. Treating us to trips to York in a cottage, London and Legoland and lately Blackpool, she wouldnt take money in return and wants for no material things so id give her a nice break in a hotel with us all.:-4:-4:-4

There's a workshop a couple of miles up the road where Richard Noble's Thrust team builds those cars which go for the world land speed records. Their new proposal is to hit 1000 miles an hour with a new design. Their previous cars, Thrust II and Thrust SSC, are still in good working order. I might ring them and ask whether I could take one of the cars down their workshop test strip (which at a guess is Filton's main runway) and for $1000 they might say yes. Estimating the acceleration and the runway length I ought to be able to get past 350mph before I have to brake. Thrust SSC is the current record holder unless I missed something.
